Re: Linux glitches

You may have come across these Linux apps, but if not here are a few I've found particularly handy -- and a little off the beaten path: Remastersys: For Ubuntu, to basically create your own version for sharing between computers -- and also a backup install, with all your programs pre-installed. In o...

Re: Linux glitches

Nice work! Especially the dos usb driver part. I've looked into that myself in the past. Don't know your lappy, but I hacked a Thinkpad 600E PentII up to a PentIII 850 mhz with a 108 mhz fsb, and 512 megs ram -- a lot more than the original specs. If you happen to have that laptop model and it inter...

Re: NUDiS

I just ran through 10 cycles, all 2300+ iterations. Everything seems to work up to the point of displaying data plots, but in worksheet G (of C.dat Viewer BooK 05.xls) , the two arrow buttons on the left side of the screen (what I assume is meant by "sliders" in the setup doc) always throw that same...

Some Solutions and a Problem

I've progressed in trying to get NUDis running. but run into one more snag during iterations of a cycle To try to help others having difficulty earlier, please note the following VERY carefully. 1.) You need MS Excel. 2.) You need to create a NUDiS directory on your C: drive at the top directory (ie...

Re: Linux glitches

You're welcome webpilot. Mention of USB boot reminds me that you can put all of Puppy Linux on a 250 meg thumb drive -- if you can still find one that small. Actually, you could fit two of them on there since it's 100 megs. I mention that size, since I once got one 250 meg drive, free, bundled with ...

Re: Argus Reed Valve Pics

Thanks so much for writing when you can gone2fly. Great photos! It helps me understand how these valves fit together and work. Difficult to decipher sometimes from old photos and drawings for a person new to pulsejets.

Sorry about the pain. Is there some alternative way/keyboard to help ease that?

Re: Old pulse jet engine ???

I noticed that there was a Laird drawing mentioned, but I couldn't locate one anywhere on the Internet. However :D Amaaaaaaaaaazingly, I did find on my old hard drive a copy of the P-80 Instructions! Copied from a website years ago, for what reason I don't even know. I have a tendency to grab info a...

Re: Old pulse jet engine ???

Good photo, we now see the plug penetrates the aluminum(?) collar. It makes me wonder if it is aluminum because that has to be a hot area, however, probably the stainless tube is fit inside, and heat transfer is slow enough not to exceed the aluminum's yield point. Also we see the backside of the ca...

Hi Gone2fly, it was in the thread you first started.... I'm afraid we got a little off topic in our enthusiasm!

Re: Simple Conduit Engine

Thanks! That gives me a whole lot more lookups to read about! Now for the EMT duds. Here are some "starting" moments captured on video for your viewing and audio pleasure of the Version 2 conduit engine. I had the camera handy today, so here's one where I just used a rosscojector snip tip on 3/32" c...

Re: How can you make a no-weld valve?

I just came across this. I've only considered valveless engines for running the stationary radial fan turbine I built because of limited valve life. I have read about the webpilot/GRIM valveglide success, so have been a little more encouraged to consider valved engines. But here I also see valves ot...

Re: Simple Conduit Engine

The CC lengths agree very well, but intake lengths look pretty ragged. On the linears, I mean. Do you have a list of these engines from top to bottom? I wonder where my conduit duds fit in? PS Has anyone else noticed that an engine that doesn't run uses more propane than one that does? How is that p...

Re: Linux glitches

It's been awhile since I've run Ubuntu regularly, I switched to Puppy Linux. But as I remember it, there was an additional step besides changing grub's menu.lst to make changes permanent after an upgrade . This may have been the problem you ran into originally, and unless you took this step again, t...

Re: Simple Conduit Engine

Very interesting, Joe! Are these individually adjusted in scale in some way, or are they all shown at a fixed scale? It looks like the baseline for all is the forward edge of the combustion chamber. Are the other lines averaged distances for other important junctions of the engines? Are these all en...
