FIRE IN THE PIPE! Type III Heater Now Operational

Thanks, Viv! Just got a call from the client early afternoon. It sounded like the noise was tearing his cell phone to shreds. Then he shielded the phone and yelled that he was standing 35 or 40 feet from it. He seemed to be pleased, for the moment. This is the Type III, of course. I'll see if I can ...

Re: second pulsejet

ganuganu - Yes, that is very nice, and PyroJoe is right. Also, you will definitely need a sizeable heat shield (sheet aluminum) to protect you, the bike paint, and the rear tire! Another complication is that to keep the bike manageable, you need to mount the engine as close to the frame as possible....

Re: jetZILLA SportThrottle

metiz - My friend, of course I know you meant no harm by your comment. I just went to great lengths to show the way real costs go into the price of an item. The real question is, "Do I want a really nice solution that will cost me $ 45.00 ?" I designed something so it was good-looking and comfortabl...

Re: jetZILLA SportThrottle

Larry, I don't want to sound disrespectfull, but isn't that just an ordinary shutoff valve that you can get in any hardware store for maybe $10, plus another 10 for couplings when needed? Very perceptive, metiz. Total expenses $20, sale price $45, ergo obscene profit of $25 per unit. This is perfec...

Re: Building an Elektra, need help!!

* What is required for the ignition setup? I already have a spark plug and a thread welded to the jet, but do I neee an ignition coil? I presume you need cables and a battery, and do you what about a switch? * My tailpipe is 7/8", and my intake is 3/4". Would it still work? * How important is it to...

Re: Industrial Heater FWE Type II and Type III

Awesome stuff! Thank you, sir! This is undoubtedly the most real design work I've ever done on a pulsejet. Of course, only time and testing will tell whether the heat warpage problem is really conquered. We'll see. Nice work Larry, Are you able to disclose what the application is? No - not until th...

Mounting Rail & Mounts

Some photos of the mounting rail and mountings. The rail is a 4 x 4 inch mild steel tube, with holes CDC cut for me by a fine outfit called DeeZee Manufacturing. Precise lengths of steel bushing stock were then welded through the holes. All the stainless mounting assemblies were welded up for me (TI...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Back ground pitcher of Lockwood Pulse Jet built from an exhaust system off a semi truck. And foreground this little Chinese 2LB thrust. Hard to start, but runs. IMGP0558.JPG Note to 55dcyinely: That foreground engine is not a Chinese type. It is an FWE - probably a build of Eric Beck's Advanced FWE...

Industrial Heater FWE Type II and Type III

Finally ... My client has gotten the latest version running, after much struggling through the winter months with poor propane pressure due to unusually cold weather. The engine shown here is called the Type II engine. The client requested a re-design to enlarge the combustion chamber for higher pow...

Re: Big Linear FWE for a Paying Client

Mark - I understand that Mr Kiyosaki has many detractors. I'll bet he has made, lost and re-made more money than all of them put together. Whether you like what he says depends mostly on mindset. Most entrepreneur types really enjoy what he has to say, though he tends to be a little repetitive at ti...

Re: valveless pulsejet for beginner

The Electra is not a very good engine (no offence, Larry) Ha. How could I be offended with a comment so obviously true. The Elektra was designed as something simple and cheap to build "to amaze your friends". GreenDay, if you haven't seen it run, you'll find it on this hokey video (the first I ever...

Re: Big Linear FWE for a Paying Client

Yes, the flare doesn't need to be quite that big, but actually it's only 3/4 of an inch (17mm) all around, and it works. The intake was the only part salvaged from the original. As to the cost, it just sort of "all adds up" as you go along. We didn't have a way to roll accurate cones that size (and ...

Re: Big Linear FWE for a Paying Client

metiz, Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad / Poor Dad) says that failure is the cost of your education. I like that, especially since it makes me seem much more educated than I had previously thought. I doubt that the new one is better at performance, efficiency, etc. -- but it should be far better in usabili...
