That EMCO thingy is pretty cool. Where did you buy it? The E101 might be ideal for a corona ignition and I'd like to get an F101 or F121 to test an idea that I was kicking around.
Thanks for the EMCO link!

Re: Making nozzles
Thanks, two good tips.
I'm using propane, so the mantle nozzle might be a nice trick. My guess is that propane will exit a lot more quickly than the gasoline would.
I've studied the propane nozzle a little more closely and it turns out that my home-made nozzle was missing a few features.

Re: Induction coil
A small bug-zapper from Walmart will do about as well and costs about $14.
At 27000 volts though, you're getting close to the ability to generate corona discharges. Not sure an amateur could build a corona discharge ignition, but it's a pretty interesting technology.

J-plug idea
Maybe this is old-hat, but you can get a die for 1/4" tapered thread pipe and use it to re-thread a J sized plug. The plug can then be screwed into a pipe fitting (I put them at the end of a "T" for my current project). The threads seem close enough to the original threads that cross threading does ...

Making nozzles
I'm working on an engine design that derives from some experiments that I've done using torches. One of the things that I need to build is a nozzle that works kind of like a Bernzomatic torch head. I.e., a pin-hole nozzle in a tube that has ventillation holes around it. The high-speed jet of propane...

"Dynamo hum" - lol.
I'm watching from the edge of the bed to see if anyone bets you a $40 bill on making this thing work.

Re: Cocktail Shaker Escopeta
lol, I have the very same cocktail shaker, but in a very different configuration. Did you get it from Wal Mart? There's also a nice pony & jigger in the set that I bought. I think that buying ready-made stainless components for experimentation is a great way to go -- lots of stuff out there that is ...

Re: FWE engine for valveless testing and valveless pulsejet
That avalanche control thing was a cool tip. Found some references to a "gaz-ex" or "gazex", which is a giant version of the torch pop-gun that I've been using to evaluate how geometry of tubes etc. influences pulse behavior.

Re: Pulse generator for testing flow
I was talking about the incredible kick that happens when you charge up a tube with about 3 seconds of gas and then hit the spark. It's a two step process: (1) Fit a 1' long x 1/2" diameter tube to a 3' long x 1" diameter tube, charge it with gas for a few seconds and then pull the trigger all the w...

Re: Pulse generator for testing flow
On a whim I tested it with propane -- works every bit as well.
I think that the secret is the Bernzomatic TS4000 torch head. I plan to build a simple pulse-jet using the TS4000 as a component.

Re: Reynst type propulsive duct
Maybe stating the obvious, but I think that the ring feed works because you can feed in fuel that is too rich and then air coming in the tail gets the mixture down into the combustible zone. I think that this dictates the kinds of fuel that would work -- anything with too big a spread between the up...

Has anyone seen this? http://www.ramgen.com/ Incredibly simple in concept and I think that a hobbist could build one if not for the g-forces involved in spinning a wheel whose rim is moving 2000 feet/s (thousands of G for a large disk, 10's of thousands for a small disk). I actually had a similar id...
