That EMCO thingy is pretty cool. Where did you buy it? The E101 might be ideal for a corona ignition and I'd like to get an F101 or F121 to test an idea that I was kicking around.

I'm using propane, so the mantle nozzle might be a nice trick. My guess is that propane will exit a lot more quickly than the gasoline would.

I've studied the propane nozzle a little more closely and it turns out that my home-made nozzle was missing a few features.

A small bug-zapper from Walmart will do about as well and costs about $14.

At 27000 volts though, you're getting close to the ability to generate corona discharges. Not sure an amateur could build a corona discharge ignition, but it's a pretty interesting technology.

That avalanche control thing was a cool tip. Found some references to a "gaz-ex" or "gazex", which is a giant version of the torch pop-gun that I've been using to evaluate how geometry of tubes etc. influences pulse behavior.

On a whim I tested it with propane -- works every bit as well.

I think that the secret is the Bernzomatic TS4000 torch head. I plan to build a simple pulse-jet using the TS4000 as a component.

Maybe stating the obvious, but I think that the ring feed works because you can feed in fuel that is too rich and then air coming in the tail gets the mixture down into the combustible zone. I think that this dictates the kinds of fuel that would work -- anything with too big a spread between the up...
