Lady Anne Rev02

James D - can you make a flared insert that will slip fit into your existing intake? I'll try it with a longer intake next time I get a chance. Larry, do you think the expanded mid section reduces the effect of adding length to the tailpipe? It occurred to me that we've got three different elements...

Lady Anne

Looks great James, the first Lady Anne was quite sensitive to fuel pipe position, preferring it approximately where the cut/bend is in the intake. Is this the first pulse jet you've run? If so it might be worth trying the normal FWE you built first, that one should start real easy and might give you...

The intake is a really nice piece of sheet metal work Larry, It would also work great on a production engine, pressed from sheet and spot welded in position. what could be simpler?

Lady Guinevere Work In Progress

Yep, Its a mighty fine build Larry, for what its worth I think it has a very high probability of working great, with minimal changes.

New and improved lady anne

Larry, I measured the temperature quite accurately, any error probably came from the measurement of frequency but I did it several times and took an average. Leo, If you play white noise nearby, the pulsejet (or any piece of tube with a microphone inside) will show it's character, it doesn't really ...

New and improved lady anne

Larry, that really sounds much, much better than I was expecting, it can't be far off running. The way it switches between the two frequencies is very interesting; do you think that means the intake length is not quite right? I'll have to give mine a go with your lemniscate nozzle type, and see what...

New and Improved Lady Anne

I'll post a video clip, It did resonate in a weak sense with forced air, just not the way it should. Maybe the cold air coming in the intake kind of plugged it and allowed it to resonate like a closed tube? I'm not sure. You might be right about the fuel pipe, with the first Anne Boleyn its position...

This picture shows the tail pipe add on, it gives a maximum of 130mm extra length and made no noticeable difference:(

New and Improved Lady Anne

Larry, I've got my fingers crossed that it works for you. However my recent testing with adjustable intake and tailpipe extension didn't yield any progress at all. No matter what I tried I just got the same, fairly strong, resonant howling mode that would quit without forced air, and its behaviour d...

re: New and Improved Lady Anne

Larry, I’m sure we’ll get it running one way or another. Something I noticed when trying to run mine was that the pops and bangs from the tailpipe didn't seem very harsh, at the time I thought maybe it was because of the relatively large intake, but your explanation ("a low-impedance pressure bl...

re: New and Improved Lady Anne

Looks like a good procedure Larry.

With your bent sheet intake, how do you decide on the size of the opening into the combustion chamber? it seems like an important dimension.

re: New and Improved Lady Anne

Thanks for the comments everyone, The intake flare is probably a tad sharp, I will make an extended aluminium flare that slides onto the intake pipe, so I can try adjusting the length. I should be able to test it again, and record some video, in a couple of weeks. if it still doesn't work I'll try m...

re: New and Improved Lady Anne

Larry and all, I built 'Anne Boleyn Rev 02' a few weeks ago and unfortunately I've not been able to get it to run (on propane). I tried just about every position for the fuel pipe within the intake and several different types of injector including the normal straight pipe, a radial drilled stinger a...

re: Prettiest FWE (?) - the 'Lady Anne Boleyn'

I've attached a video clip to show running with & without the deflector, the frequency is very similar in both clips. After 1 minute of running at a moderate thrust level it settles at 323 Hz.
