Re: Jet powered Lamborghini

Hi Danny

You need a high pressure ratio across a CD nozzle to get shock rings , this engine wouldn't produce them , a CD nozzle would probably reduce performance in this case :-(

Hi What, me not be scientific ......cheeky bugger ;-)) ..................those are what I used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqMn0A2aUdo Flow increases as the square root of pressure change , your 20psi and 0.125" oriface will flow the same as 100 psi and a 0.083" oriface , BUT , and its a very BIG...

Re: VALVED pulse-jets with turbines (turbocharged pulse jet)

Hi Dan Mmmmmm, I thought I'd answered this Post , guess I didn't ....duh :-( Not a turbocharger type , it runs into "votex" problems requiring pressure drops etc , you need an axial turbine wheel that has impulse blading which doesn't require a pressure drop across the blades , the blades are best d...

Re: VALVED pulse-jets with turbines (turbocharged pulse jet)

Hi Dan By "radial" , I meant coming at the turbine wheel in a direction 90 degrees from the turbine shaft axis , it would end up being more a tangential sideways glancing blow to the blades. I doubt that you'd end up with enough horsepower to power a compressor sufficiently to make any great differe...

Re: chamber combustion performance

Hi AGG

Make is as large as possible so that air velocities are low , crossectional area of the flametube to be at least 3 times the inducer area , your inducer has 1,885 sq mms , so the flametube needs 5657 sq mms or ~85mm dia if a single can type.

Re: GT 15 Gas Turbine by Adolph Saurer

Hi

It might pay to ask the guys over on the JATO Site http://jetandturbineowners.proboards.com/ theres a larger number of guys who play with commercially produced turbine engines , one of them may know something .

Re: Motorjet -> KJ66 Compressor + Brushless motor

Hi Daniel An "afterburning" EDF will be a fuel burner , but there will be a thrust gain , you'll have to be careful about "thermal choking" because of the very low pressure ratio , the very fact that the temp will rise during combustion requires a static pressure drop as the air/gases expand and acc...

Re: Motorjet -> KJ66 Compressor + Brushless motor

Hi The EDF in the video will be producing a total pressure rise across its axial compressor ( fan) stage , not as high a total pressure rise as you would get with a centrifical comp (KJ66), but thrust output has a square root component of pressure , so more horsepower required per pound of thrust , ...

Re: Motor jet, afterburning EDF

Hi Axel LOL.....very enjoyable :-)) We only need air speeds of <400 ft/sec at the afterburner inlet to have stable combustion , easily achieved ........................there would need to be careful consideration made as to the "best" EDF , preferably more of a "low speed" unit rather than something...
