Re: PULSE JET units, slung under wings of a Mustang ... Pic
Mark Mumby, Nothing peculiar about these engines - they look similar to that tested in naca-wr-e269, dated October, 1945. ------ Larry Cottrill, This picture and the other I posted of a P-51D with ramjets on the wingtips, came out of a magazine dated February, 1949. The article was about "test beds"...

Re: 1962 ad for small jet engine from Gluhareff Helicopters
I just checked some dates: E. M. Gluhareff filed for a patent March 11, 1957. This ad came out of a 1962 magazine. The patent is dated June 18, 1963 - guess he couldn't wait to go into production even if it was still unprotected at this time. If I lived only an hour and a half away, I'd go snooping....

1962 ad for small jet engine from Gluhareff Helicopters
I am a nostalgia/history buff.
Note the manufacturer is Gluhareff Helicopters, not EMG Engineering Co., as found in 1970's advertisements.

Mustang with ramjets mounted on wings ... Pic
I wish I had the audio for this - probably sounded like twin afterburners kicking in, but weird looking with a prop out front.

as an added note:
In September 1947, Cobb returned to Bonneville and broke the 400 mph barrier. To see what this car looked like go here:

Re: 1947 style, Bob Yeakel's jet-propelled auto - PIC
Hi Viv, Everyone's fine (knock on wood). Thanks for asking. Happy Holidays! ----- Bruno, In this time frame, what could have been available to this man for propulsion? The "valveless resojet" was created in this country in 1944, so it would have been available in 1947. However, I do not believe this...

>This blatantly isn't a Valved PJ, and even if it looks to be a Gluey, who would be up for me moving it to the off topic? Or the Pressure Jet thread, depending on how the conversation is going to flow? Tom, Well, I am not sure if it is or is not a valved pj since I cannot see inside the head. Tharra...

Re: 1947 style, Bob Yeakel's jet-propelled auto - PIC
Looks like the exact same rig to me!
Mike,
How do you explain the 3 inlets I am seeing in the last 2 pics and the 1 inlet I am seeing in the first?
They must be different engines designed by (I am guessing) Gene Kelly.

My address can be found. ----- Mike, Glad you enjoyed the pic. ----- Tom, I was able to read what you 1st posted about his being seated where there were no controls. Why did you edit it out? ----- Hank, I emailed y...

1947 style, Bob Yeakel's jet-propelled auto - PIC
Hey, I found this in my (growing) magazine collection. I thought the Forum might enjoy it. Then again, remembering the old Forum, some of you may not. http://www.brads.net/forrestde/1947.png I've pointed out some of the things I found interesting in the picture. 1. the rear tank is propane? 2. the h...
