Re: Mike's Build Log

Here's the triple. I think I want to bump up the intake dia, considering how well the upscale went at a little higher confinement ratio. Mike Just a couple of thoughts (which you may have already considered): 1. The rendering seems to depict the intake and exhaust ends adjacent to each other; this ...

Yep, and also a free power turbine, and also a whirly motor.
Mike:

Nice job!!

Looks like you could augment both ends.

Re: "Thunderchine" 55 lb thrust pulsejet plans

Hello M.:

Can you provide us with your expectations regarding TSFC, operating frequency and acoustic temp?

Also, has a first article been built and tested yet?

How cool is that app for the Iphone, almost like they knew about us ;-) http://www.faberacoustical.com/products/iphone/db/ Viv I can't believe how advanced this product really is. Here's a link that's totally off the wall: http://www.gizmag.com/bullet-flight-100--the-us15-iphone-app-for-snipers/108...

Re: dynamic modeling of a strip valve

HI Forrest: We haven't talked in quite a while. Thanks again for your interest in my project of some years ago (a duplicate of the now-famous Kentfield motor, with 4 intakes); your analysis and subsequent positive recommendation provided me with incentive to build a successful version of my own, and...

Re: THRUST RIG

I have tried various methods to measure thrust , none of them “as yet” really work well , The photo shows something I am considering, I have no intention of starting the great thrust rig argument up again, just would like some feedback to see if it is worth doing Hi Grim: I can assure you (and Mike...

Re: Tenney's rotary Dynajet

Hey Bill how are you? hope all is well with you and yours. Hi, back to you--and Happy Holidays to you (and the rest of our fellow PJ enthusiasts)! I wish I could report that all is well, but the US financial situation and a puffed-up, uncaring, BMW M-series driving financial officer have created a ...

Re: Tenney's rotary Dynajet

Hi Mike love that one, must be a bit of pressure gain with it going around and around like that ;-) self starting too I shouldn't wonder. the other wonder is we have not seen it before! all those terabytes are a pain to sift through at times but I do love the way he mounted the valve head Viv I can...

Re: Pulsejet-powered sailplane

At an assumed glide ratio of 50:1 and a gross weight in the 800-850 lb range (typical for a modern 18-meter sailplane), the thrust required would be on the order of 16-17 lbf--hardly spectacular, and more of a testament to the airframe's performance than the engine. BTW just so yous guys can get a ...

http://www.lange-flugzeugbau.com/htm/english/products/antares_18p/antares_18p.html Some dubious claims here. Re: turbine blade source

would it be possiable to make good turbine blades by cutting a pipe of sufficient metal in thirds long ways, and depending on the angle of blade you need, get a pipe of larger or smaller radius? To cut it in thirds is just an example number, it would depend on how large a blade you are looking for....

Re: Messerschmitt design?

I might suggest that this is a fairly "ambitious" first weld, particularly WRT the variable geometry nozzle part, but also the perforated flameholder liner and - well - pretty much all of it. Based on my years of TIG welding (and I'm still learning the skill) I'd recommend that you do a lot of prac...

Re: Mike's Build Log

Not a bad percentage of max, I'm thinking. Yours has a better potential for lower SFC than my 1.55L scale up of the pocket jet, which got 6.5 lb. (Larger CC, straight pipe tail) This is a development project, based on my successful M41E project (which you saw running at one of our "mini-meets"). Th...
