Hagen's Big PJ

I noticed that the lower frequencies are a bit more tollerant, but I don't know if the extra power would totally offset any benifit. At the PJ meet I actually felt pain spikes inside my body from some of the smaller PJ's running around 200 hz. I just hope that the BIG one does not interfere with a p...

Hagen's Big PJ

Hello everyone, Thanks for all your support. I was able to get that restriction cleared in the connector right at the propane tank. There was a steel ball around 3/16" in diameter that was causing all of my problems. I hope that the tank does not have any ristrictions internal. In a few weeks I'll b...

Big PJ

Ya I can't wait to fire it up again. But my house is in chaos. I replaced every window and I'm not concentrating on the inside. I hope to fire it up in a couple of weeks. By then I'll have re-inforesed the test stand and gotten the restriction out of the connector. I'll just need some wheels so I ca...

Hot Steel the documentary

OK. I guess I can't wait any longer. I uploaded this film to www.thelot.com but they have not posted it yet. I don't know what the hell is going on. It's been a few weeks. I will upload it again tomorrow, but here it is on google video. If it ever does get posted on On The Lot I would very much appr...

Engines mounted...

Hi James, Just thought of another thing. To make this plane safer and more easily controllable you should have a way to MATCH the thrust of both engines. For whatever reason if at a given fuel pressure you have a difference in thrust between engines ... well you know what will happen. I'll leave it ...

Chinese Engine & Plane

Hi James, Real nice plane. Can't wait to see it take off. If you run those engines on the ground attached to the plane, just watch out for heat affecting the front tires. It should be fine for a short run, and definitly good when in flight, but a really long ground test might do something. Nice Job....

Hagen's Big PJ

Hey Hagen, Nice n big, real big! Bet that one is a belly thumper. It doesnt seem to be much more than idle there? Ive had some experience with Eric's engines, and the original that this was scaled from is just hair raising on full power. Whipping its tail back and forward on the stand and the like....

Hagen's Big PJ

Just got a few minutes here.... You need Divx codec to play it. It was the only way I could get the file size down. My motivation for building such a large PJ was because I wanted to do a short documentary on the comparason between today's pulse jet and a turbine. When the film gets edited I'll post...

Hagen's Big PJ

Hello everyone. I built a monster PJ! I first have to thanks Eric for sending me his TP180-70 plans. The PJ I built was a scaled up version of that. If you want the dimensions of this type of PJ then please contact Eric. If I'm a little incoherent in this email it's because I only got the plans abou...

Cones

Thanks Larry, I'll have to try that one. What is the best way to relieve metal stress on a cone just before you weld it. I was welding a big 304 ss cone and 3 tack welds broke! It was a very loud snap and scared the hell out of me. I'm a little worried that when I start the PJ that it just might bre...

Rolling Cones

How the hell do you roll cones without them turning into tear drop shapes while your gas welding them? You can start out pretty darn circular but that's not what you get when your done.

Thanks guys.
