Hagen's Big PJ

Here are some photos of the extra bracing that I did to the frame that holds the PJ. It doesn't look like much but it seems to be working well. As Eric pointed out there is a harmonic flexing at the very end of the exhaust that I will have to dampen out with some added support. I didn't have any rol...

Hagen's big PJ

Thanks Eric, I think I might just have to take you up on your offer to send me some short pieces of tubing. Let me know how much I owe you for shipping, materials, and your troubles. Oh and if you have some of that 1/8" 304 round stock for me to put on the exhaust that would be of great help. I don'...

Hagen's Big PJ

Ok here is a drawing of an injector that I was thinking of. The small fuel tube enters the intake and make a 90 deg turn. It then enters a larger tube, at the end of the large tube the small tube has holes in it to let the propane out. The propane expands and flows into the large tube and towards th...

Hagen's Big PJ

Hey Eric, Thanks for all the good info. Based upon your discription of earth shattering force, I do have to admit that my pulse jet was not at that level. So with that said I probably was flaming out because of bad fuel setup. It did seem to be putting out a good amount of thrust but I didn't have a...

Hagen's Big PJ

This engine should put out between 100 and 150 lbs.

I've went ahead and bought one of these! This should help solve my fuel issues and having to put the tank upside down.

Hagen's Big PJ

Hey Adam, The combustion chamber is 8 inches OD. So it's a little bit bigger than Eric's. I'm not sure if I would want to try the flaming intake method. I have to use quite a bit of propane to just get it to start. I started it the first time on vapor only with the tank about 1/3 full. It ran for ab...

Hagen's Big Pulse Jet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6QQnuhl8Ak I was able to run my pulse jet today! I can't believe that it has taken me this long to find the time to spark it up. We ran it a few times at the Camerillo airport. Got it nice and red hot. Here is a quick movie that shows it starting and possibly flaming...

Hi Eric,

Are you selling your injectors yet?

I want one for the monster...

One that can be put down the intake not through the CC.

Thanks,

Hagen

Re: Induction Design

Hi. Vern. This is a speculation based upon an interpretation of videos such as: http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb2/files/twin_178.wmv (This video can be found in the Files section of this forum) Opposing twin induction stacks, appear (to me) to produce good impinging gassflow during induction. A numb...

Hagen's been out of town

Sorry guys,

I was in London for a week and a half, then Singapore for another week and now I'm stuck in Melbourne for two or three weeks.

So I haven't been able to fire up the big one, and of course make all those modifications to the stand.

At least I have something to look forward to.

Cheers,

Welding SS

I did with my large pulse jet. You must use a carborizing flame. If you don't the metal will just end up as slag. I think the welding rod is 308. Good Luck, Larry is great at welding SS with Oxy Acetelene. It also took me awhile to figure out if your weld break suddenly as they cool down, then you h...

water and PJ

Hey Eric, I think you just created a great industrial humidifier! Should be good for a large building. On second thought maybe we could use it as a snow machine? Seriously if you use liquid water at 0 deg C or just above it should get thrown out and turn in to snow in the cold evening air! Plus you ...
