re: Tig Wire.
Yes, but it would be great if I could use up some of the stuff I got for the mig. I have heard of people using wire coat hangars as quick replacements for arc welding, and mig/tig wire seems like a closer match so thought it would be worth asking anyway.

Tig Wire.
Hi. I am just about to get a tig welder, but my budget is starting to get the better of me. Would mig SS wire (which I have!) suffice as a replacement for tig SS wire (which I dont have!) I will be welding 0.9mm 304, the mig wire is 0.8mm, whereas the tig stuff (on that site) comes as 1.6 or 2.4; Wh...

Ignition components.
Hi. With regards to the following circuit; http://aardvark.co.nz/pjet/images/ignitor1.gif What sort of wattage will the resistors need to be? My collection only really stretches to 1/4W Also, would an average car battery suffice as the 12V supply? What sort of current would this circuit draw? Thanks...

re: help in designing a rocket
Couldnt you roll up some wallpaper paper with wallpaper paste to make cardboard tubes like the ameture firework dudes do? Paper will split when your rocket explodes... and paper will hurt a lot less than metal/PVC shrapnel too.

re: Valve/Filling Ideas?
Wow, lots of great help here. I suppose it would be best now if I let you in on the project! Basically, I spin a pole around my body, with a lump of parafin dipped kevlar wick, as a hobby. This looks amazing on a camera with slow exposure, however to the eye it is just two yellow dots spinning aroun...

Valve/Filling Ideas?
Hi. I have been looking for a long time for ways to store a little propane (or other flamable gas) in a small space (any length but lest than 3/4" diameter). Here at uni I stumbled across about 50 used whipped cream NO2 canisters (about 3 inches high, half inch diameter). I only have 2 at the moment...

re: Pulse jet noise
Thanks for the info on that. With the 2 engines, I have heard someone running 2 lockwoods, who say they both get in phase, like pendulums next to each other, creating a huge increase in noise. I had assumed there would be a way of getting the out of phase. A single combustion chamber, with two, slig...

re: Pulse jet noise
Theoretically, it is possible to make things quiter, but I'm not sure it is something you would necessarily implement on your first engine. It will take a bit of experimenting before you get it right, which means lots of noise :) Not only lots of noise, but potentially double the noise http://www.pu...

Hi. I'm back with a half-welded engine http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb2/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif You mentioned that it is important to remove leaks... I have a problem with my square section U-Bend. The problem being that I'm not very good at welding http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb2/images/smi...

re: Augmentor upgrades, and improved efficiencies
I'm not sure of your local laws, but they can submit a complaint and the powers that be will tell you not to do it. The UK DIY GT meet is in danger because of a warning after just one person complained of the noise! As well as that you have the possible "my ears are ringing constantly, I'm going to ...
