i feel that no one wants this but
here is a design for a valve for 'larger' low frequency pulse jets. If you take a look your kitchen or bathroom you will probably see pump dispensers, with a small ball bearing and a spring making up the valve. This is just an adaptation of that technology to pulse jets. rv.jpg A long hollow metal c...

An other use for the valveless pulse jet. Imagen a pulse jet, optimised for heat production, blowing down wards through the throat of a venturi tube, witch also has a large volume of 'hot' seawater pumped into it. The volume of water being controlled such that the temperature down steam of th...

the simplest possible pulse jet !!!
the simplest possible pulse jet !!! it consists of two concentric cylinders; one of them open to act as the exhaust, and the other one closed to act as a quarter wave resonator. And a cone to direct the moving air on to the top edge of the inner cylinder! That's it. That and a way to fuel the system...

Something from the weird and wonderful world of microwaves.
Something from the weird and wonderful world of microwaves. A signal (wave ) passing down one of two parallel conduits will produce a similar signal in the other conduit travelling in the same direction if they are connected by two holes a quarter of a wave length apart. mpg.jpg Could this be a puls...

formerly: An very old piece of valve technology An very old piece of valve technology that might be useable in pulse jets is the double reed valve! For those of you who have not dismised the idea out of hand, and are still reading this, the double read valve is what makes the noise in a bagpi...

Re: chamber lenth?
if the exaust is 1/4 of a wave lenth. :) and the inlet is 1/6 of a wave lenth. :) is there a standed lenth for a combustion chamber :?: :? the figuer of a 1/6th of a wave lenth comes from a quoat i read else were on this sitethat the inlet should be half of the wave lenth of the first odd harmonic....

shush!
here are 2 possibles for silencers for bench testing pulse jets! 1) take 2 circles of scrap metal (you could even use wood if it is kept wet ) with a radius of the same length as the exhaust pipe, make an hole in the centre of both large enough for the jet to come through unimpeded, place them toget...

Re: silencer?
I have seen recently how tuned pipe exhausts are routinely fitted with small silencers (on scooters). Since a pulse jet operates on the same principles, as a tuned pipe exhaust, is it not entirely feesable to add a silencer to a well designed pulsejet, given that thered still be enough residual thr...

90 degrees
do the Kadenacy and acoustic waves have to be 90 degrees out of phase with eacg other?
would the jet work better if they could be broght more into phase?

Re: heat v thrust
what is the differance between a pulse jet optimised for thrust and one optimised for heat production? as i understand it a pulse jet with a exaust pipe that is a long cone in shape is optimised for thrust.the long cone shaped exaust being called a primary thrust augmenter. and an exaust that is th...
