Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Thanks for the info. I've got a vapor coil on now. It 1/2" tubing coiled around the combustion chamber. Still no luck on getting to run on gasoline. I'm trying different nozzle configurations. I rigged up a cable and pulley to a scale today to try to measure thrust but I was only able to pull about ...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Do you want the injected gasoline to be a vapor when injected, or do you want to inject liquid droplettes that vaporizes as it mixes with the intake air? I was going for injected liquid droplettes that would vaporizes but I would do what ever works. I took out the fuel nozzle yesterday and it has 1...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Tested the gasoline system today with the same results. I think I'm going to weld up the holes in the fuel nozzle and drill smaller ones and fewer of them. My thinking is if I can run the fuel at higher pressure and keep it in the nozzle longer it will vaporize better. If that does not work I'm thin...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

I haven't tested thrust yet. Maybe next week. I still have to work out all the bugs in the fuel system first. But judging by how fast the test stand came back toward me when turned on the gasoline I think it's going to make good thrust! 8)

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Can you elaborate on your liquid fueling system? It's just another fuel nozzle just like the propane one. I don't if you looked at the walk around video but it shows all of it. Looks like the cold air is condensing the gasoline. What was the approximate temperature of the gasoline in the tank? Grea...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

The gasoline just goes into a separate nozzle just like the propane one. I think it is going to be hot enough to vaporize the gas. I'm using a dump style system for the gas. But I'm going to have to put another valve on the line going to the fuel nozzle. I'm going to try that next week and see how i...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

I got the engine running on gasoline today but it's getting too much gas and flaming out. I've got a fix in mind and maybe next week I can get all the bugs worked out. Here is some video of the engine. The first one is a walk around of the engine. Sorry it's so long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n...

It's 316L 18 gauge which I think is close to 1mm.

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

I got it running today. Hope to have some good video next week. Starts easy but requires a lot more fuel to start. It does not seem to be make as much thrust as the smaller one. I'm running it on a 100# propane bottle so I don't know if it's getting enough fuel. Also the combustion chamber and the U...

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work

Thanks Mike. I got the fuel nozzle holes drilled today and the cap for the nozzle welded in also. Getting ready to fit it to the test stand. Might try to run it today.

Re: Lockwood on petrol won't run

Not having any leaks is important. On my engine I had a small hole form after it got hot and it just quit running. I think you might need some type of flare or cone on your intake tube. maybe someone else on here can help you with the dimensions. I would definitely try it on propane. I also would no...

Re: Lockwood on petrol won't run

what kind of fuel nozzle are you using? Have you tried it with propane? Are there any leaks in your welds?
