Nope, doesn't work :(. I can't even get it to pop with just blowing air and propane into the tube, I stuck an air hose deep into the CC and then tried it, and I was able to get some ignition with that, but no pulse. It does make an excellent bang when filled with acetylene and the spark plug turned ...

You mean run it like a jam jar? I tried that with isopropyl, and got nothing but a single quiet "howl."

That's what I was going to ask you! I was thinking that somehow the hot gas during the exhaust cycle would form a seal between the two spaces on either side, and divert all the thrust to the exhaust, and on the intake the air would be sucked in through both sides and mixed up, but it's probably far ...

It's making more and more sense by the minute!
I don't quite understand what you mean about the intake shell flare being heated and pounded back in, but things will probably make more sense once I have more of the parts assembled

Not quite, from what I've read, carbon arc welding (CAW) is different from TIG in the sense that you don't need a shielding gas, but other than that, I'm not sure.

OK I'm casting a cone form out of some polyester resin, it's hardening as we speak. It should make rolling the cones a lot easier, as I can just wrap the metal around the form and pound/press it into place.
