From the point of vuew of DDT it is a differant story the taper works to accelerate the flame front, but as with all PDEs it is totaly dependant on the f/a ratio.
Get it wrong and it will fizzle.

Re: Original Schmidt Tube
This is what the original Schmidt tube looked like in section. Bruno Is that it! come on Bruno I say something completely contentious and all you can manage is a mild little picture? not even a small rebuke. I was expecting a tirade at least, a comment accusing me of talking out of my hat! but no j...

If you find them and it is in english i would love to read them Andrew. I have all ways felt the Schmidt tube wa s a completly differant engine, you can see it is trying to be a PDE. Diedricht (spelling) did the production engineering on the Argus engine and I would say it is not a Schmidt engine an...

Re: Big putt-putt
Mark, I think we've had it in the forum before. It is a grown-up version of the putt-putt toy boat engine, done by the guy who actually started with those toys. The thing was tested on real-life boats, too, with some success. It worked well, but it just isn't that much better than the stuff people ...

Ok I will wait for the next drawing but in the mean time lets not forget that on the inlet part of the cycle the presant layout will cause a lot of turbulence and muck it up. I only say this so you can include it in the next revision, I personaly like the Foa layout and this one, I cant work out why...

I do remember reading a site that had a transparent rocket motor made from a block of perspex. A hole in the middle was the combustion chamber a nozzle on the back and then a ordinary oxygen supply. Looked the dogs nuts when it ran and he did it in the lectre room. Viv I will see if I can refind the...

I think the anular gap will be the critical part of the design, I cant at the moment see a lot of mass flow around the internal reflector. It would be interesting to try it with and with out to see what happens, I am in that happy state of being able to argue it in both directions. Myself and Bruno ...

Re: Apples are for crushing into sauce!
I'm behind Bruno on this one. I had an Apple IIc back in the 80s, and it was nothing compared to the Athlon I'm running right now. So todays Athlon is a bit faster than the 1980s IIc ! well I must admit to a bit of a surprise on that mike. Try a restart see if that cures it:-) mind you the 6800 nev...

Re: Why heap abuse on MS?
Thomas, I have been running my small publishing business successfully for seven years now, using a network of between four and seven PCs, running almost exclusively MS software, and have never had any notable problems. My system has not been crashing, my applications have not quarrelled with each o...

Re: Heated Tanks?
You used to heat your MEK in tanks? I can only imagine what the room must have smelled like. I used to use it with paper towels to wipe the brake dust off of jumbo jet wheels. I remember it evapourating almost instantly after it was applied and the fumes gave me a nasty headache and they made my no...
