Re: Several questions about design
If you read about Liquid Fuel Rocket engines you will learn, heat is expanding gas, expandng gas = thrust. So technical if you cool a pulse jet with water it should reduce the thrust. If you cover the entire engine with a shroud and use the exhaust to make air flow over the whole engine like an augm...

Try this. Get a 20" bicycle wheel. Cut a dozen pieces of sheet metal 2" x 3" and make a 90 degree bend in the center. Weld the sheet metal pieces to the edge of the bicycle wheel evenly spaced around the wheel. No tire or tube naturally. Position the wheel so the metal flaps are in the exhaust of th...

Show me a Useful Valveless Pulse Jet Engine.
Show me a useful valveless pulse jet engine. One that is practical that can do some work, like, power an airplane, push a car, push a boat, push anything even itself. I have seen videos and everyone has their home built engine laying on the ground, laying on a concret floor or in a vise running. It ...

How many people can afford the $2000 price tag for Auto Cad and a semester of class at the local college to learn how to use it? I still us the drafting table. All the young folds seem to think, if drawings are not drawn with auto cad then it is worthless trash. For their information auto cad was in...

Re: ignition system for pulsojet
Hi ludiluka. This topic has been beat to death over the years. Some of you fellows and especially the new guys, really need to learn how to use the above Advanced Search function. I just typed in the word, igniter and found this one . Imagine that. This forum is all about experimenting, so do e...

Re: ignition system for pulsojet
You don't need a fancy ignition system. BBQ grill push button ignitor works great. High voltage transformer from any junk heat and air conditioning unit you can get those free in the junk at scrap yards or the junk pile behind any heat and air conditioning shop. HV transformer from a bug zapper work...

SR-71 Pulse Jet Engine test run VIDEO
Another one of my new engines 3 minute test run on video. This video is the 4th test run. Since the video I have done several more test runs 5 min to 15 min each for a total of almost 2 hours of static runs. The reed valves look like they have never been used. No noticable heat exposure, no crack, n...

Re: Model pulse-jet engines, manufacturers
Your asking the wrong people this question. Go to this link and post your question. There are people there that were part of the developement of pulse jets way back 1947 I believe was when the Dyna Jet was invented. Those people can tell you all the history you want to know and then some. They still...

Re: Looking for Reed valves for Dynajet
Here is some more information. I have a Dyna Jet Engine about 1950 model I believe. The Instructions says, Engine Serial no 3660, Shevlin Manufacturing Company, Dayton Municipal Airport, Vandalia, Ohio.
Who was Shevlin Manufacturing Company?

Re: 1 hour static thrust test run new pulse jet engine.
I bought my first Dyna Jet Pulse Jet Engine in 1977 the reed valves were .010" spring steel reed valves. I have bought 3 more Dyna Jet engine since then and 2 of them have .008" reed valves. I have the factory original papers that came with 2 different engines 20 years apart one says .010" and the o...

10 lb Thrust Pulse Jet video PJ-10-2
The new improved engine has all the correct volumes and is designed as it should be. It started very easy on 2 psi propane gas and full throttle is 6 psi. It is running on 5 psi in the video. Pulse jet engines do not have to run at full throttle all the time the reed valves hold up much better to ru...

Re: 1 hour static thrust test run new pulse jet engine.
Total volume is 114 cu.in = 1868 ml. I always buy the exhaust pipe diameter and length I need for the thrust I want. I use a formula to calculate the preducted thrust of the engine according to the cross section area of the exhaust pipe. The combustion chamber and cone are always designed to match t...

Re: Carb on valved pulsejet (youtube)
I put a carburetor from 2 cycle boat motor on a pulse jet engine about 20 years ago and it worked fine. The best part is the fuel air mixture is already correct and the float makes it easy to use gasoline. Open the throttle and start the engine and it runs great. Here is a link the a photo of my 10 ...

Re: 1 hour static thrust test run new pulse jet engine.
I don't recall the exact volume of the engine without finding my notes or doing some math. The volume is more than double the Dyna jet engine. The Germans learned that a properly designed engine with a compression ratio of not more than 2 to 1 the reed valves can be made to open and close at zero ve...
