Quote (corrected) "why not try aluminium sulfide with zinc oxide"
Because you have as much knowledge of energetic chemistry as a lamp post
You might as well ask "why not try concrete with a dead fish"

Peroxide rocket wall feed of oxidizer
I've been mentally designing (insomnia the tinkerers sketch book)a methanol 90% peroxide rocket and have been speculating on using the cylindrical wall of the combustion chamber drilled with multiple tangential jets to feed the peroxide. Provides vigorous circulation, some oxidizer pre heat, fabrica...

Another Steam rocket link. Applogies for not posting earlier but a hard drive crash removed all my interwho bookmarks and I just stumbled across again this today.

Re: Steam rocket project
From a/the previous thread "Looks like a lot of fun. I'm curious about the plumbing after the valves. If the valves on each tank are smaller bore than the piping chamber and nozzle after them then even when fully open the chamber isn't doing anything. Have you considered an individual expansion cone...

Re: Collected works of F. H. Reynst
There's a buried thread somewhere about this. Hard bound scanned copies (not original, print only on one side of the pages) are worth about US$25 plus postage. No one was interested in mine as multiple copies were on ebay for similar in the US so postage was cheaper. Bites sometimes being at the end...

Re: Planning for a large NOX engine
Great vids there Carolynne! I will take my time and figure out exactly what I want to know, then I will email you. Viv, a steam powered rocket would be fun but somewhat inconvenient to use on a frozen lake since it will need massive amounts of heat to get up to pressure. It is very interesting none...

Solid propellant rockets The basic types available to the amateur constructor are Sugar (fuel) with potassium nitrate, KNO3 or Sodium nitrate NaNO3 (Oxidizer) also known as candy propellant. The propellant can be improved by using specific sugars ie dextrose. The components can be dry or wet mixed o...

Re: Question?
You have to get the water in ( a lot of water) at a pressure higher than it is going to come out if you are looking at feeding a jet on a continuous basis. Or you need a strong vented container to fill with water and then seal. Heat in = minutes, Thrust = seconds. Mass flow vs heat transfer is a bea...

Re: PJ's for demining
Thanks for the links Viv. Very interesting. If I ever get my 60 hp monotube steam car boiler back in action I may have to meet you for a mine bake off. Opps I've given my idea away! :D Not really just something I ponder on mainly when I trip over the thing in the work shop. Lots of heat at high velo...

PJ's for demining
Hi Viv The links on your post mentions demining. Can you talk some more about it or is it still early days? Guessing you would be using a pulse ram (Big Grin) but optimised to be the noisiest vibratingist thing on the planet. Am I close! Seriously in old mine fields with over growth etc the idea of ...

Re: Mini N2O gas canisters?
You were told fairy tales. www.laffin-gas.com/ is the reality. I think there is a kind of dragster that is powered by something similar, from what I was told it basically has a tinfoil tube, at one end N2O is injected and mixed with old chip fat, then at the other end there is a specially shaped ste...
