re: Metal choice and welding.

It cant be arc welded?? That is a pain!! It has taken ages for me to get hold of that, hehe :-)

Would it be possible to use a MIG? I think thats the only other thing I will be able to get my hands on for the time being

Metal choice and welding.

Hello. I am looking to build a lockwood, and from what i have read, i will need some 0.8mm thich '321' grade stainless steel sheet. I now have access to an arc welder, and have loads of welding rods which i think are for mild steel. Would these suffice, or will I need to buy some rods designed for s...

Re: re: Pulsejet vs Turbine

I will leave the turbine for a rainy day then. The more i think about it, the better a pulsejet sounds. (A pun, I take it?) HEHE, I didnt realise :P Pressurized fuel tankage with fuel control by regulator is the way to go. This leaves you another danger to plan for, i.e., tanks strong enough to wit...

Re: re: Pulsejet vs Turbine

Sorry:-) Nick and I used to try that kind of testing but after the entire population of a small Somerset village turned up at the bottom of his garden to find out what the ucking noise was we were more than just a little encouraged by his wife to move testing some were else:-) I was affraid y...

re: Pulsejet vs Turbine

Thanks. I will leave the turbine for a rainy day then. The more i think about it, the better a pulsejet sounds. Running from liquid fuel sounds like a good idea, I assume this would require a pump and atomising nozzle? I will have a read. Noise was a concern. I live in a town, but thought i could ke...

Pulsejet vs Turbine

Hello. I am looking to build a jet powered go-kart (and later other forms of transport). The dielema i have is which type of jet to use. I can see pros and cons of each, but wondered what you guys think; Turbine - Made from a turbocharger. - Provides a lot of thrust - Quite efficient - Catastrophes ...

Re: Home built ignition generator unit

The half-moon at the end shows where pin 1 and 8 are. Pin 1 is to the left of the groove if the chip faces away. Sometimes there will be a dot by pin 1 too; http://www.electronica2000.250x.com/temas/imagenestem/pres555.gif Image found on google It doesnt matter if the chip & chip holder are differen...

I'm only guessing - but i think so that the metal doesnt oxidise and become a little 'impure' in places, giving it weak spots.

Re: Oxidisers

Hi there. I've never bought it, but you will find it here The only problem i see is a £50 minimum order. You could also try here; http://www.gardendirect.co.uk/ you would have to phone and ask if they sell it/get their catalogue as their site has been under contruction for as long as i can remember...

Jet Formulae

Hello. I am unable to start my venture into jet engines just yet, but am trying to read up on as much as the net has to offer. As i am unable to try things and see, i will look into the scientific side of things. On some sites i have read things like "i have done the calculations and it should use X...

Looks like an interesting idea. I am a complete newbie to pulsejets, but i think i can put something in... A curved surface would result in the petals needing to bend more. This may be well within the capability, however fatigue would be increased from the flat surface. You would need to make a comp...
