Re: will this design work ? jet with V-shaped reed valve
Oh well. You can always try it on the next one. There's always a next one.

Re: 50 mph ramjet???
I see what you're getting at, but how do you get the first one to work well enough at low speed to generate enough thrust for the second one in the first place? It you solved that problem, then the whole problem is solved and you wouldn't need the other two anyhow.

Re: will this design work ? jet with V-shaped reed valve
I'll bet you could make it a pyramid shape and get even better performance than with a V.

On another note, I saw a couple cutaways for gun silencers the other day and thought to myself Heyyyy, that sorta reminds me of those Tesla valvular conduit designs. Maybe worth a look to see how they focus shockwaves?

Yeah, the loudness is a given but how did they improve the fuel efficiency that much?

I thought PJs were supposed to suck for VTOL applications. What say you forumites?

Re: "Jet" pack
This. Untill you can shrink it down to less than 50 kilos there is no point in configuring it as a jet-pack that you're strapped to rather than say, a flying motorcycle that you ride on.PyroJoe wrote:Replacement landing gear can be expensive at times.

Re: 50 mph ramjet???
I was thinking something like this.
It would need to spin rediculously fast though to maintain itself, so maybe magnetic induction bearings? The grey tube in the middle is the fuel feed.

Have a look at this. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn3 ... ngine.html
For reducing friction I'd probably just go with compressed air.

Re: Few Quick Questions...
Exactly. You just "inch your way around" until you've completed the cut. The last little bit is difficult, because of the instability of the almost-cut sections that are no longer fully locked together. L Cottrill When you get close to that last bit you might also want to sitck a piece of something...

Once you have the compressor does it still really need to pulse instead of burn steadilly?

Re: 50 mph ramjet???
This is similar to an idea I had which started out as a a ramjet coiled into a spiral and spun which naturally led to a more conventional shape with vanes in the intake and exhaust which led to a design similar to what you propose. Great minds think alike etc etc.

Re: regenerative ramjet engine
What if there were a set of vanes in the intake that caused the looped around exhaust to spin as it entered rather like a toilet flush?
