Re: How do you design the "valve" in a Valved Pulse-Jet
The valves are the tricky part of the engine. I have designed my own test equipment its not real fancy but it works. There are many things to consider. The valves are typically made of blue spring steel or stainless. As the valves open and close they beat themself to death. Typical problem is the me...

Re: question about the valves
When the fuel air mixture ignites in the combustion chamber it builds up pressure that blows out the exhaust tube. The pressure traveling down the exhaust tube acts like a piston about half way down the tube the pressure drops to zero after it sucks a vacuum in the engine that causes more fuel and a...

Re: Who knows this pulse-jet?
From that tiny photo it looks like a Dyna Jet. That reed valve will last you for about 1 engine run. You can make your own real easy for about 65 cents each or you can pay $10 each on ebay. If you trash the factory reed valve retainer and make a new improved reed valve retainer the engine will run m...

Re: 85% throttable pulse jet engine.
Rocket Man, When running your engines, do you pressurize your liquid kerosene and gasoline for injection, or use the veturi effect? Also in your work do you find it better at 40% or 50% intake to exhaust ratio with the liquids? Thanks, Joe I have been experementing with 3 fuel systems just like the...

Re: Looking for Reed valves for Dynajet
Reed valves are very easy to make. Buy some .010" blue spring steel $29.00 + postage and cut them out with tin snips. There is enough metal to make 60 reed valves if I lay them out in 3 rows of 10 per row on 2 sheets. Including postage that is about 65 cents per reed valve. Here is a video of my dyn...

Re: Pulse jets used on a wider spectrum... such as rollerblades.
Pulse jet engines are not for low speed stuff like a skate board. These engines do 200 mph fairly easy. Try a leaf blower on a skate board or bicycle. I put a leaf blower on a skate board size 4 wheel cart with RC remote control it was up to about 80 mph pretty quick on the highway when I lost contr...

Re: fuel
Turn on the high voltage ignition system. Turn on the air. Turn on the fuel. Screw the needle valve out, when the engine gets enough fuel it will fire up. Turn the needle valve out more to get full static thrust throttle. With forward speed you can throttle the engine up more.

Re: How to test stump remover for KNO3?
If you want pure KNO3 then why not buy some at your local industrial supply company it comes in 50 lb bags, 100 lb barrels, 250 lb barrels, and 600 lb barrels. Last time I bought 100 lbs it was 50 cents per pound. NO premit and no red tape required just give them a call and ask for a price. The more...

Re: Fuel air mixture
I am not 100% sure what you are asking. In the early days of gas engines before someone invented the carburetor the fuel tank has an air inlet and a fuel/air outlet. The fuel tank had to be size correctly so it would evaporate the correct amount of fuel and mix with the air that is flowing through t...

Re: Valveless PJ and magnetism
Magnetisum does not work above 1100 deg F. If you have a nail and a magnet the nail will stick to the magnet but if you heat the nail red hot it will no longer stick. Above 1100 deg F there is no magnetic attraction to the metal. If you heat a magnet to 1100 deg F it looses all it magnetisum. When i...

Re: 9 VDC battery coil driver (igniter) Pulsejet
This is pretty close to what I built. I got the circuit out of my TTL Cookbook that I had in college. My input is different I have a variable frequency control it helps a bunch because a car ignition coil is an iron core and you can tune it to maximum output. Above and below a certain frequency the ...

55dcyinely, I made no comment about you, but I'm happy to read you gave another member some credit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rocketman, You claim "7.5 lbs of thrust". In a previous post of yours, you were confusing torque with thrust. How did you come up with this number? Did you do any calibration? M...

Reed valves look like this. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/gary350/SR-71-5.jpg Argus valves look like this. I use to have some of my argus valves uploaded online but for some reason they are no longer there. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/gary350/gh308a_b.jpg Notice in the videos the...

Re: Augmentor for big pulsejet
An augmentor adds air an increase exhaust volume and converts high velocity exhaust gas to lower velocity exhaust gas. The exhaust gas coming out of a pulse jet can be 500 mph. The high velocity gas does not have a lot of torque for quick take off unless it is a very large engine so the augmentor ch...
