Now all we need is bubble pulsejet fusion. i'm really glad to read Oak ridge mentions The Institute is especially well known for its success in the transfer of technology from the laboratory to the marketplace so not ...

even free and low-cost CFD software http://capella.colorado.edu/~laney/software.htm should have enough vortex mechanics to win the http://fireships.com/electric/x49.php 2005 competition :-) http://www.acricfd.com/applications/answer/default.htm i got "answer" for free and think it must be very temp...

http://www.galleryoffluidmechanics.com/waves/duck2s.jpg wondering why a tsunamie travels at speeds of up to 500 miles hour it toke me days to think of boyles law that liquids are not condensable. shockwaves in solids are even faster, there is a calculator in one of those links for that -but- as my ...

Re: converting thrust to hp
thanks Al, that was not easy to find for me.
still its not that easy to convert and spec. allowances for the prop's (jet) make it even more of a dark art.
you compared a jet to a prop and it came out best right?

converting thrust to hp
It takes 746 watts to develop one horsepower. i read about a florida everglade boat uses a prop as good as 4 LB to a hp. Thrust is a function of the propeller, not the driving machinery and i understand its a variable that can be calculated with "Kt (thrust coefficient), Kq (torque coefficient), and...

that flame walking from fuel to oxidiser is interesting.
the second experiment, to have the flame in the fuel, may proof the same but sure looks more dramatic

thanks Mark,
this "Performance and Optimization of a Pulsed Jet Vehicle coming soon" i will watch! the Piston-Cylinder Vortex Ring Generator seems bigger than a mentioned millimeter to me but i like the comparison with squid propulsion and wonder what PJ design they use in a liquid environment.
