Re: New way of building a valveless pulse-jet: integrated intake

Ah well I wouldnt expect any big changes until the mid tube length is increased. As for the cows being scared, well if they stop making milk he can always sell them for hamburger. Milk production varies quite a bit, theres no way he could prove that your engine scared them into making less milk, rat...

Re: "U" shaped valveless pulse-jet

First I'd suggest reading everything you can find, especially here on the forum, old WW2 technical reports etc. Secondly I'd build a simple engine like the FWE as it is a minimal amount of work. You might think that forming and welding 15 tubes and cones so that they are all matching lengths and per...

Re: New way of building a valveless pulse-jet: integrated intake

Well from your drawing, the space around the intake and behind the intake will still want to behave as a combustion chamber volume, filling with fuel air mixture ( if the chamber is shorter) otherwise it could potentially just be a big 'dead air' space that has hot non combusting gases that sap the ...

Re: "U" shaped valveless pulse-jet

One note: This is obviously intended to be a "Blast Compression" type pulse-jet (Deflagration to Detonation Transition). There are numerous other names to describe the combustion of this type engine, just compare the definitions. In theory, the expanding combustion gases of one side compresses the ...

Re: New way of building a valveless pulse-jet: integrated intake

I would shorten the combustion chamber, and use a domed cap with the center pushed into a spike shape, and lengthen the center tube.

I still think that if you get it running at its full potential, its going to melt unless you use a fuel like methanol.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Re: "U" shaped valveless pulse-jet

I dont have any plans to make plans available, and if you build it just as an outer shell with no knowledge of the internals, it will not run.

Re: Where Can I Get Pressure Jet Plans

If you are dead set on a pressure jet, there are plans here on the forum / plans section, and elsewhere. We dont really do a whole lot with classical pressure jets because they are essentially heaters. They are a neat project, but overly complicated, difficult to properly tune, picky with fuels and ...

Re: How to Design Build and Test Pulse Jet Engine.

They definitely can run at lower pressure like webpilot said. In fact just tonight at the shop I sneezed so hard that one of the 70 lbers 15 feet away started to resonate, was quite amusing that my sneeze matched its resonant frequency.

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...

Actually, making the cones takes longer with the slip roll if it even works properly, only thing they are good for in my opinion is rolling straight sections, with making cones there is too much adjustment and screwing around to get things to work properly, and then every time you have to tighten it...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...

Yea its always a good Idea to purchase individual pieces of equipment rather than the 3 in 1 combos. .5 mil will crush itself flat in those large diameters. .75 mil would be about the minimum I'd recommend. Slip rolls are useful for straight sections, and very gradual cones (if the sliproll works pr...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...

I hope you just plan on using it for the slip roll and limited brake work, after 3 attempts of cutting thin stainless the cutting part is dead. Keep the geared side tight so you dont get any tooth slipping, and whatever you do, dont oil the rollers :P For rolling stainless, you dont want to follow t...

Re: Running Pulsejets - Setting up and running pulsejets SAFELY

Finally managed to convert one of my valveless animations into a flash animation, gives a good view of the basic internal workings of a pulsejet.
