Another jet kart
I have just finished work on a go-kart powered by two lockwoods producing about 20 lbs thrust each. This vehicle is somewhat unique in that I can convert it to a land sailer by removing the engines and putting the mast from a sunfish sailboat in the bracket in the front. My friend and I will be test...

I was finishing up the welding on my seccond big lockwood when my school's mig welder ran out of argon. as a result I had to get really good at oxy torch welding, really fast. Since I had a torch setup at home I decided to do the work there instead of at the school. unfortunately I didnt have more t...

I just checked the weld-less section on bruce's website and apparently he has finally updated it. Instead of the twin concentric tubes he proposed earlier and that these posts have been addressing, he has settled with the more conventional layout seen on most engines. Aparently he realized, as many ...

the lower the speed, the higher the pressure. you're right, I completely forgot about our friend bernoulli. So If its true what you say and the turbulence in the cc can be stabilized so the engine will run, then It would be a pretty powerful design. you mentioned earlier that the collision of the v...

The flat engine
I have seen some of the pictures of engines built with square and even triangular cross sections but I would like to propose an even easier to build version in the spirit of the square thrust rectifier. the picture explains it better then I can but basically it would be two strips of metal in the mo...

It just occured to me that the airflow in the cc is the slowest of any part of the engine. that means that even if the vorticies and airflow inside the cc were stabilized with fins or something (by the way, has anyone tried that?) and gotten it to run, the two masses of air/exaust would not collide ...

I'm envious (insert drooling sounds here) I have to use the crappy lathe at school which is missing so many components that it is nearly useless. does this mean that you will begin building the atom jet as you mentioned on the homepage? if so keep us posted on new developments with lots of pictures!...

Remember M. tweaked the diameters and removed a chunk of tail on this one. He gets some cudo's too! ;-) Indeed he does. As you can see from the well defined intake section (rather then the small flare pictured in the plans) I made use of these dimentional tweeks. diameter are ID's, maximum rated th...

has anyone here built one of these facinating devices? They look sort of like steam engines but can run on a minimal amount of heat that expands the air in the chamber to move a piston or diaphram. (for a better explanation check out www.howstuffworks.com) does anyone have plans or additional inform...

Double lockwood blast compression proposed design
This was an idea I had awhile back as a way to maximize the pressure in the combustion chamber. If it works like I think it should, all the air being sucked in as well as exaust returning from the tailpipe should impact violently at nearly the same time in the middle of the combustion chamber. I'm p...

[P.S.: When you get to college, don't belittle the English course requirement--you need it! ] Did I misspell something? anyway here are some more pictures of my third engine: a medium/large lockwood. I just ran it for the first time yesterday. (No noise complaints yet! I have very understanding neig...

I have been monitering this forum almost daily for the last six months and during that time have built three engines. Recently I entered my engines as sort of a science fair project at a major technical expo in connecticut AND WON BEST IN SHOW!!!! essentially that means that I can get into any techn...
