re: First Design-mini linear

Hi multispool, If You cut the threads by feeding the lathe carriage away from the bottom of the hole toward the right, the threading is much easier. I usually place the tool facing the rear of the bore, and run the spindle in reverse so that I can see the machining easier. I assume that You are usin...

re: Has anyone used a STITCH Welder?

Hi Larry,

Your problem is why commercial sound distribution systems use a 70 volt high impedance output.
Each speaker has an adjustable matching transformer which allows the desired amount of volume / power to be selected.

re: Questions/comments about my Pulsejet Design.

Hi Najm, The lengths of the system's parts are more important than the diameters. According to Tharratt, the thrust of the pulsejet can be calculated by the following formula : ( Total system volume in cubic feet / total system length in feet ) X 316 I have found this formula very useful to evaluate...

Hi Larry,

See the attachment for a phase diagram of copper / aluminum alloy.

Continued heating cycles will produce precipitates that harden and strengthen the alloy.

Hi Larry,

Don't You ever eat sardines; and get " baited " breath. :)

"Bated breath" has been around a long time. Here's the first cite in the Oxford English Dictionary: "1596 Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice i. iii. 125 'With bated breath, and whispring humblenesse.'"

Hi Zippiot, Is sea level of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans the same? If so why are locks required in Panama? Sea level is about 20 cm higher on the Pacific side than the Atlantic due to the water being less dense on average on the Pacific side and due to the prevailing weather and ocean conditions....

re: How much power is needed to spin a radial compressor?

Hi,

The formula for horsepower required to compress air is:

Horsepower = 0.2267 x CFM (( PSI/14.7 +1) raised to the 0.283 power -1))

An example:
A compressor moving one pound of air a second and giving 8.8 PSIG
will require 25.3 Hp.
