Stainless is an absolute mofo for work hardening. Annealing should be possible, I guess - from memory 304 and 316 are somewhere between a bright cherry red and a dull orange, erring on the orange side, holding for 3 minutes per mm thickness, and then let it air cool. I checked my carbide stocks, I h...

Any ideas or examples for nozzle shapes that promote entrainment?
I've never found anything that works better than a rosscojector.

Re: Mike's Build Log

3d printed in stainless? What's the process, DMLS?

Also, are you trying to tell me I'm wasting my time fixing up an old milling machine, and the time I spent learning to weld was pissed away as well?

Re: LOCKWOOD HILLER TIPJET?

Patenting something doesn't necessarily mean it has to be realistic. It would almost certainly be do-able (although how long the exhausts would last under centrifugal forces is questionable), but can you imagine the noise?

HAV’s for firefighting is just silly.
Oh my lord, I hadn't even seen that. It's difficult to even start enumerating the ways that is stupid.

Airships haven't been thrown out completely. They pop up occasionally, for example

Re: Workshop machinery

Ow. That does need some TLC. DIY toolholders are no problem as long as they're rigid and you can shim your tooling to the right height. A bit more of a faff than quick change stuff, but still perfectly serviceable. If you have slop, you probably want to play with the gibs a bit (might lose you some ...
