Re: Failure to acheive resonance
and only after going through 8 pages of a thread do you get the dims for the working engine. Oh snap. Guess one could have given up the engine though, right? Any plans on posting some more stuff yourself? That wasn't a jibe at you personally, lots of people have done that. Early on I had a number o...

Re: Failure to acheive resonance
Yea you have to be careful about certain design threads, I know a lot of plans get publicly posted before anything is even built or running and only after going through 8 pages of a thread do you get the dims for the working engine. You can get the plans for the ADV FWE on my site at www.beck-techno...

Re: Dual augmented mini's and other jet stuff
In stainless the power to weight ratio is about the same - to slightly less depending on the engine and size, ultra thin aluminum, pretty dramatic power to weight ratio increase.. Most of the mini's are being used on rc cars and boats, or just annoying neighbors, so weight isn't a major concern, but...

Dual augmented mini's and other jet stuff
Hey everyone, Just wanted to upload some pics since its been a while. Here's a few pics of a mini FWE, dual augmented, both adjustable/removable. Both augmenters are pretty well optimized for maximum augmentation per tube, as well as maximum positive feedback to the engine. Between augmentation and ...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
With the intake stack on, and no valves in place, the engine should also go into resonance with a tuning fork, oddly enough without the valves and at room temperature the engine will resonate at about the mid range of its operational frequency.

Re: Liquid fueling
Half of huge is still too big. I'd say no more than 10, and thats probably pushing it. A 10 lb engine could still push a big plane at considerable speed, big with a low power to weight ratio doesnt necessarily mean slow, it might not accelerate as fast but could still be capable of going faster than...

Re: Liquid fueling
That wouldn't be the best idea, target drones are made for flying fast in a straight line, if you try to do tight turns like you would need to on a RC plane, it will literally fall out of the sky. V tail planes are also touchy. To say that putting a 40lb thrust engine on a trainer plane, would be un...

holy moly - inconel ....wooh only in my dreams..LOL!!! More like only in your nightmares... Trying to form annealed inconel into small pulsejet sizes with a 20 gauge wall thickness, is like trying to make a small pulsejet with 14 gauge stainless steel. Takes some very special techniques to do prope...

Re: Bleeding Pressure
Best way to do it is to get a RC 2 stroke engine one way valve that connects from the muffler to the gas tank, should be able to get one for 2-3 bucks. The valve will allow the engine to pressurize the fuel tank up to its maximum internal pressure. Using a small 1/8" pressure tap tube should provide...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
By "or conversely scaling down an engine with a longer mid tube, so that you have a smaller engine producing the same thrust as the original, with higher efficiency, and less drag." I mean that if you increased the mid tube length so it was the proportions of an advanced chinese, you could then scal...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Increasing the tailpipe length is not always the way to go, but it is the way to go, in the cases where it is the way to go. And then I could again say that you could get x amount more thrust by increasing the mid tube length of the scaled up short engine, or conversely scaling down an engine with a...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Because adding ~350 mm would make it virtually the same as what I call the advanced chinese design, which I've been building for the past 4 or 5 years. I'd have to look at your intake setup some more, but the pipe should be capable of it. Two proper intakes could actually be capable of a decent bit ...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Any way you can run a line from a pressure tap on the combustion chamber, through a one way valve, to the fuel tank? Not sure what kind of pump you are using or if it can handle pre-pump pressure. Most automotive ones should be able to, most large trucks have in line booster pumps before the primary...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Why do you have the mid tube so short? That's a big engine now that I see the dims, it could put out about 55 lbs thrust if you just made the mid tube 350 mm longer.

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
You are using copper injection tubes right? Crank your tig up to high amperage, and just tack fuse the copper tube in 3 spots, so it has some structural strength under the solder, or if you get good you should be able to fuse it all the way around without melting it. Copper is a bitch to weld though...
