The metal jam jar experiments (click on the light blue coloured text before the brackets to follow the link) topic contains some information and experimental outcome of Reynst combustors running on longer-chained hydro-carbon fuels. Be aware that it is most favourable not to use glass jars anymore. ...

You might find it interesting that a likely OCF has been moved from the former 324 Hz to 381 Hz (2 samples; 3rd is present, but vanishes in noise). The above beeing valid, of course, when comparing the latest record of "James D" to records in the first "Anne Booleyn" thread, which depict the engine ...

Re: re: TP180-18 starting to take shape!!

193hz is pretty good too right?? Eric what is the acoustic length of the TP180-18? with a +2" intake... That was just one of the "sub-frequencies", which was rather easily oserved, however, OCF (here called f1, of 132.02 Hz ) is of your interest, due it characterises operation overally.

re: TP180-18 starting to take shape!!

"NickC", Very nice going! Congratulations that you got the engine to run! Even nicer it is, that you achieved it with diesel. Cool! For analysis I found video #4 most representative. However, I have not (had) the time to have a look at all of the videos (yet), but the following can be stated: OCF : ...

This one basically only scales the patent engine dimensions. Nothing more nothing less.
Someone should really delete that file, because it is rather misleading.
Well, it dates back to the time I was rather new to the subject.

re: TP180-18 starting to take shape!!

Because you are in a hurry, you may want at least try to borrow ( a ) a compressor and/or, ( b ) a " hot air gun ". Both are likely to make your live wrt. starting easier. Instead of spark plug ignition, you could either try ( a ) Eric's suggestion of heating up a single spot of the combustion chamb...

re: Jims Little 3 Lb Thermojet

As suspected ( red letters ) before, my extracted closed pipe frequencies are more and more seeming off . Hmmm, learning by doing. I have to check and evaluate that again. Unfortunately I do not have much time to spend on pulsed combustors right now. However the lower end open pipe frequencies, toge...

re: New and Improved Lady Anne

Interesting evidence, that Bill got the engine to operate self-aspirated with the inlet that much in front of the combustion chamber. Even though thrust output was reduced heavily, and dimensional sdaption was demanded.
Well, and note the heat distribution. Hmmm...

re: Jims Little 3 Lb Thermojet

##### Note because I cannot edit my post anymore: The formerly send soundfile analysis might be in error wrt. frequencies of larger order. Especially the closed pipe frequencies may be affected! As said, it was my first attempt. ##### From the new video provided by "mag", the OCF peaks at 219.63 Hz....

Re: re: Jims Little 3 Lb Thermojet

To all: I am not in the position to give a complete lay-down of any engine. But as presented a bove I can try to extract some frequencies out of a record. As mentioned, the results posted above were my first approach of a more detailed analysis. He lost overall amplitude, due to losses in harmonics ...
