Re: Picked up a pair of Schwitzer S500:s today.
A 2-stroke engine powering a hydraulic pump, the oil pressure was very stable but the engine was a bit of a struggle to start since it was directly coupled to the pump shaft. One idea why we lost oil pressure was that the oil level was below half tank and the bumpy track made the pickup suck air, th...

Re: Picked up a pair of Schwitzer S500:s today.
Hi Anders Boys having fun :-) Please, more info on how things performed , speeds etc Cheers John We sure had! Aprox. 200m down the track we lost oil pressure (noticed that afterwards from the helmet cam video) and blew the gasket between the comp housing and combustor, that made the afterburner fla...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Yup, really tired but we´ve had loads of fun. :D I ran the pulsejet kick on thursday night after some sorting out of the fuel system, it ran great but bent from the heat and a badly designed engine mount. I couldn´t quite repair the folding and couldn´t get it to run after that. At least I rattled t...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
Hats off to Erik, we shared our workshop with him and his crew during the race and he has built a very impressive engine. It shakes the ground when it runs and if the track had been better he would have gone really fast. =)

You can follow our race progress at our blog, http://mobackenracing.se, even though it is in Swedish there will be lots of pics from the event.

We are not interested in too much media coverage, it would be great to have an article in a porno mag but other that that, nah..

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Swedens largest newspaper seems to think that we should be on the front page on their webpage, we have turned down several newspapers and tv-shows since we haven´t any time to spend on such nonsense only a few days before the race.

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
The ejector is almost finished now, a rear mount and some heat resistant paint and it is ready to go. http://mobackenracing.se/wp-content/upload/T3-bygge-44.jpg I have also made a larger fuel tank, the 1 gallon fuel cell I used earlier would never last the entire race but the new 10 liter tank shoul...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
We will pack our truck and head off on wednesday next week, the race is from thursday to saturday so hopefully we will have time to make several runs for each vehicle and still have time to drink cradles of beer, spread lots of idle gossip and make plenty of noice. Eric: Yup, one of the re...

I guess so. Aprox. 5 kg. Yes.metiz wrote:Not to be critical but is an ejector that size for an intake more effective then a much shorter one? What kind of thrust increase are you expecting and will that be worth the aditional drag and weight?

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Hi Viv, That is another way of doing it, the problem is that the throttle needle needs to be incredible small if it is going to give a throttleable valve area from 0 to 1.15mm2. With my fuel system there is no need for an in-line throttle valve since the variable restriction on the return line contr...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
The throttle valve I am using use a needle valve to restrict the fuel return, a one way valve opens at 0.5bar and when enough system pressure is built it opens and starts feeding fuel to the engine. The restrictor still needs to be there so I have some way of controlling the volume of fuel going int...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Nope, the longest run yet is 50 meter and it was picking up speed faster and faster when I had to shut her down to avoid going up the snow pile at the end. I have no clue how fast it can go, I guess that the limiting factor is how much I can bend my knees without roasting my balls on the engine. I h...
