ornithopters
Well, it's relevant to the forum nasmuch as I know of at least one US company to have switched from pulsejets to flapping wings. People I used to correspond with -- who worked on the development of micro-miniature pulsejet engines etched from quartz crystals -- have switched away to concentrate on f...

'Reflector Bucket' Valveless Pulsejet
Larry, I don't get it. I mean, I don't get several things. If a small amount of gas is supposed to be reflected immediately, what happens with the rest of the gas that blows out of the intake? If the reflected blow hits back at the chamber _followed_ by fresh air, what is it that gets usefully compr...

Re: Clam baker
Well worth $ 850.- (incl. postage and handling) I think. The 8-inch Solar was one of the three or four 'standard' US military pulsejet engines of the 1950s. Very well developed. I'd love to have one. I'd hate to see it go up in flames, driving a misguided missile.

>I expect that experimentation would lead to a longer bucket than I have shown. Some of it would depend on how much gap is really effective between the intake and the bucket. Remember also that I'm relying on the reflected blast to drag in a lot of fresh air from around the gap. ---------- Larry, I ...

Viv, I don't think you can judge the intake configuration from the picture. It may have a variable duct geometry with internal vanes moving this way and that way to change the dict profile. This is a common feature in supersonic intakes.

Sealing
Michael,
I think you should improve the sealing. I doubt you can induce the kadenacy breathing with the inevitably leaky boddom of the thing. Try sealing it with clay or something.

Turbine picture
Well, amazingly enough, as viewed from here that actually seemed to work! It came out not as an embedded image, though [like my earlier shot of Maggie] but rather as a 'downloadable' image. Somebody let me know if you can see it that way, too! L Cottrill --------- Well, it looks embedded on my scre...
