Re: Dyna-Jet story

I would definitely like to hear what you've got. I wish I'd been more social with him, and wish he'd finished his book.

Re: Gerald Wiles

Sad to hear. I talked to him a few years ago and also wish I'd made more of an effort to visit him. I'm sure it would have been a fascinating visit. Nice gentleman. I wonder if he had disposed of his collection before moving to the home? I doubt it, and the family is wondering what to do with all th...

Re: Mike's Build Log

Sadly, no. I find PJet work is something I do when I can have joy in my heart, and '22 was rough. Lost my mom and brother, heavy sigh. So the 3d printed motor sits there waiting for me to machine a new starting jet fitting. Clockwork has become more soothing for the moment. I don't know why the two ...

Honestly, that is so cool, Mark!
Hope all is well, man. Looks like you are still having fun.
I am absorbed by clockwork these days, but never stop thinking pulsejetting, really.

Great! Nice run to start a year that can only be better than last year!
I gotta get out and make some flame and noise. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hope all is well otherwise, Joost!

Re: Mike's Build Log

It's the 90-90 rule:
The first 90% of the job takes 90% of your time.
The last 10% takes the other 90% of your time.

Sad to say, I've got to hit the road for the weekend tomorrow morning to visit a dear and terminal friend, so our collective jollies will have to wait...

Re: Mike's Build Log

GAaa, well, I've got to get more serious about my plumbing. I've always used the tank valve, so me little push fittings and plastic tube never developed any appreciable pressure. Now, I'm valving in two places at the motor, and multiple shenanigans have ensued! I am running into this a lot these day...

Re: Mike's Build Log

All ready to go! I found some tiny tapered carbide endmills in the “box of woe”, looks like the nose of it is .025”. Punched in quite nicely. 27906E6A-53E2-46F7-BDA3-885A5B929489.jpeg D770F15D-1751-451D-9F51-9BB6BC77DF09.jpeg The starting stinger has metering and a pushbutton switch. I’ve got a valv...

Re: Mike's Build Log

It’s definitely going to work.. I hooked up the stinger and got a great starting resonance and grumble.
Bad news is the stainless has work hardened somehow, and is just undrillable. I need some carbide bits to continue.

Re: Mike's Build Log

So, about to drill five fueling holes in the CC. I’m torn between tiny, like .03”, but my 1/16” drills look quite tiny as well. I don’t think it is any simple area/flowrate calc, because the fuel jet velocity is a huge variable. The question is: Better to be smaller, energetic and turbulent delivery...

Re: Mike's Build Log

Mark, if you look at the first photo, they are freshly printed and still in the powder bed. The support is the comb like support features that must be removed by hand. Nick, yes it is the same material. They printed the “stomach” (tough not to call it that now!) u-bend up, and so I find support ribs...
