Re: Big engine, need a reliable design

EXAMPLE. Lets assume your argus valve air intake slots are all .375" wide and .187" tall. That means the cross sectional area of that size opening is .070125 sq in. If you need enough valves to = 30.5 sq. in. then 30.5 divided by .070125 = 434.937 reed valve. Round that off to 435 reed valves. Lets ...

Re: New Pulse Jet Dude

O Reiley Auto Parts has 10mm spark plugs for $2. I have the part number out in the work shop it is raining and 10 pm I will get part number tomorrow.

Gap needs to be smaller than 1/8". Gap it about .040".

Re: New Pulse Jet Dude

Does your electric ignitor system have a capacitor? A high voltage capacitor helps. Shorten the gap on the spark plug this helps too. It is possible the air blowing through the engine is blowing the spark away because the gap is too large for the voltage you have. The location of the spark plugs can...

Re: New Pulse Jet Dude

You don't need to spark plug. Fire up your hand torch set it so the flame burns across the exhaust of the engine. Now fire up the engine. Look at the video.

Re: New Pulse Jet Dude

If you have never used a fuel bladder before there is a bit of a trick to getting the engine started. Ignition on first, air on next, release fuel clamp and engine fires up if you have the correct fuel orfice. If you do not have the correct fuel orfice you will need a needle valve to adjust correct ...

Re: SR-71 Pulse Jet Engine test run VIDEO

Can this engine scale up in size efficiently? I built one that is 20 lb thrust. Once you get up to a certain size engine the star type reed valves will not work because you can not get the required number of valves in the small space needed. You can built larger star type reed valves then you run i...

Re: Big engine, need a reliable design

I have a good friend that has a Jr. Dragster for his sisters Son. The guy use to race funny cars and real dragsters. If it were me I would put a pulse jet engine on each side of the Jr. Dragster frame. One engine will put all the thrust on the top of one side. I know the Jr. Dragster is suppost to g...

Yes,ok, very interresting, BUT we are far of my start request ! 240 Forum-Gentlemen have read my question, and nothing : "form and position possible of injector gas propane" in my Maddox jet 50 ? Thanks. MARQUIS " The reasonable will have endured, the passionate will have lived " Do you have a Madd...

Re: VALVED PULSEJET WHITH LIQUID PROPANE

I have put kerosene in the water jacket on my pulse jet. I have several jets mounted around the outside of the pulse jet engine. The pulse jet provides the heat to vaporize the kerosene and the kerosene powers the other jets. The center pulse jet gets the whole thing up to speed and that makes the ...

Re: VALVED PULSEJET WHITH LIQUID PROPANE

Do you know if you use the fuel to capture the heat that radiates from your engine the fuel returns the heat to the engine and that produces more thrust. Read an engineering book on Liquid Fuel Rocket Engine Design you will learn a lot of things we can use on pulse jets. A pulse jet does not burn la...

Re: VALVED PULSEJET WHITH LIQUID PROPANE

Have you tried using a vaporizor for the propane? A vaporizor is a radiator that allows the liquid to heat up and turn to vapor. The radiators in your home air conditioning unit has a radiator that can handle the pressure and it will work as a propane vaporizor with a fan. You can wind a 60 ft roll ...

Re: using 2 stroke engine's reed valves?

I have used the metal reed valves from Murcery Outboard motors. I have seen metal reed valves in chain saws too. I had forgotten that some 2 stroke engines have fiber reed valves these would probably get hot and melt or burn up. Metal has to get to 600 degrees F to change color and show signs of get...

My 20 lb thrust PJ Engine with 32 Argus valves

My 20 lb thrust Engine has 32 Argus valves. It starts easy on propane, gas, alcohol and different fuel mixtures. Gasoline produces more power than propane, 50/50 gas kerosene produces more power that 100% gasoline. 100% Methanol produces about 50% more power than gasoline. I am using fuel injection ...

Re: Rotary Valve Pulse-Jets

Have you done any research on Stirling Hot Air Engines. There are several basic hot air engine designs. The Beta Design Stirling Engine is the closest thing to a pulse jet engine. A large pulse jet engine will most likely work with an automatic valve because the engine has a low pulse frequency and ...
