Re: Best Air Temperature for Speed Records

I is a well know fact you can not change the laws of physics. Cold air contracts, an engine can suck in more oxygen in cold weather. More oxygen means the engine can burn more fuel. If you keep the fuel on ICE or DRY ICE this helps to super cool the intake air producing more power.

How long is the combustion chamber?

How long is the cone?

How long is the tail pipe?

Frequency of a spring = reed valve

MIT Professor Walter Lewi's Physics 801 Lecture10 You need to copy and paste the link to get the video to play. I tried all the options URL and Img nothing lets the video play just by clicking it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaiynlvxFbk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscre...

Re: Senior design pulse jet barely runs...

trust = doing this from memory I think it is = exhaust pipe cross sectional area x 3.4 = thrust in lbs for gasoline. exhaust pipe length = diameter x 11 = length combustion chamber diameter = cross sectional area of tail pipe x 2 combustion chamber volume = 25% of total engine volume cone shape = 25...

Re: SR-71 Pulse Jet Engine test run VIDEO

Where are you in AZ? I am moving to the Phoenix area I have been looking for a house with a workshop but so far workshops are NOT allowed in AZ.

Here is the video of the 20 lbs pulse jet. I have 2 of these, 1 with argus valves and 1 with reed valves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VNyTsUT2Xg

Re: My answer to' what is the compression racial of a PJ Engine

can we say that if we make tail expansions(cones) in valveless pj the compression ratio can be increased. No. Compression ratio is a comparrison of the combustion chamber cross sectional area compaired to the exhaust pipe cross sectional area. A cone on the exhaust pipe does not make the cross sect...

Re: My answer to' what is the compression racial of a PJ Engine

The pulsejet uses Barometric pressure the (Lenoir cycle) which unlike external compressive drive such as the Otto cycle's piston, or the Brayton cycle's of the compression turbine, Pulse Jets engine relays on compression from acoustic resonance and barometric pressure. This limits the maximum (pre-...

Re: Need help designing engine

Engine shape and size math is easy. Designing the valves and making them fit in the available space on your engine is much harder.

Homemade rocket hits 121000 feet

Check this out. It looks to me like they used cast propellant because of the styrofoam core.

Re: 120 lbs thrust rocket engine went 3.5 miles

I use to buy Potassium Nitrate, sulfur and charcoal at industral chemical supply. There are industrial chemical supply companies all over the USA they are use to selling to factories and other industrial companies not people like me and you. So you walk in and say, I want to buy 75 lbs of Potassium ...

120 lbs thrust rocket engine went 3.5 miles

This is the first time I have seen this part of the forum. I wrote a book on solid fuel rockets and I use to sell a lot of them 25 years ago in the classified section of Poplar Science that was back in the days when people bought magazines and there was no internet. I have not been able to sell many...

Re: searching for small reed valves and housing

You need a milling machine to make your own. If you don't have a milling machine you can take a machinist class at college or machinist classes at a vocational school.
