but, the fuel pump is a good deal more complex. For simplicity's sake, I prefer pressure vessels. But, they are a good deal harder to fill... Can't just pop a cap and pour in more fuel. But, without a fuel pump, I really doubt you could run a ramjet, I just don't think there's the proper conditions ...

TIG is so much better! Some complain it's slow. I dissagree with that... "strongly". When I weld it right I don't even have to grind the piece! Besides that it's just so controllable! Bill, thanks for sharing that! I had previously wanted to make a "holy cone". :D But, my current flameholder design ...

LOL haha, I've got two days till christmas day... you're ahead of me on time! it's only 7pm here... (23rd) oh, and I've got another advantage for this jet, beside REALLY easy to reproduce parts (like you said) the parts fit together VERY compactly. no waste in those blasted curves! saves me stainles...

Bah with the twist... I just used the second prototype flameholder and eliminated the need for a twist. Ok, here's my entrant, his name is boxy *subject to change* and he's.... uh... boxy... and a bit heavy... (I'm going to be using some 16/18 gauge stainless to make him) But, he's simple, quick and...

hmm... perhaps you could make a single wrap (the FIRST wrap) around the CC, the nice, red hot engine would definitely vaporize, or at least warm up the fuel a good bit. After that you could try running some coils around the tailpipe. Oh, and the weight I gave is the ENGINE only weight. Don't know if...

fuel pumps
Hey, I've got a fuel pump I got for free, and it jets the water out at a really good rate (yes, I know water may not be the brightest idea for testing a fuel pump, but, petrol wouldn't do for how I was testing it) Despite being a tad leaky (which I plan to fix) On that note, what would be a good glu...

it SHOULD work, though, I don't know how much water you'll be able to lift... I suggest using a scale, much easier and consistent. However, go ahead and try to make some heat shielding. That'll keep your slides from lighting on fire! Oh, and I thought of an odd twist for my ramjet... what if I took ...

al belli, thank you, I couldn't find the 304 stainless for the life of me, all I would get was the more expensive ones. I'll go check that out. Eric: No, I haven't flared the intakes (how much of a difference DOES it make? I'm guessing alot...) And the rosscoinjectors are about as pinched as I can m...

Oh, I FINALLY got some methanol. I went out side and tested it a little. The reaction this time lasted for a second or so! The thing is, that it's cool, and VERY wet outside, so I don't think I could get it self sustaining if I wanted it to... but anyways, just having it even act like it WANTED to r...

I use a hacksaw... or occasionally the sawzall, but recently alot of those cutting disks! (I just stick them in my drill press, turn it up to full, and blast away) After a quick, rough cut is finished I use the bench grinder. It's all primitive I know, but it's all I got. Besides, it good for the ar...

hey, I think the stool will be dead... sad to see it go... Lol, oh well, it was for a good cause! (however stainless works great as a heat shield!) Eric- where ARE you getting your tubing? The prices you were listing were what I'd expect. 12 a foot is pretty expensive! Oh, and I'm in quite a predica...

I like the expandable cup! Oh, and perhaps you could reverse the idea, rather than having a capsule of methanol, have a capsule of platinum wire! just glue one end to the bottom, and the other, attach a string to the top and the top of the cup. When you pull, pop! the platinum is revealed to the met...

thanks! I decided I had to have something different (again). And, Actually, the swirl is intended, I could adjust the folds to remove it... but, it looks so much cooler. :D Perhaps it would work better in a cylindrical jet, where the vortex may come in handy... here's what the layout is: http://i19....
