Thank you Larry, I am cutting the metal ( SS 304) for the original size today. Later I would scale up since I have a slip roller for easy work. You mentioned scaling up all linear dimensions - the length of each individual cones is also the linear dimension, isn't it ? In the past I scaled up Chines...

Larry, I like your latest engine a lot, I already cut paper patterns. It should be a great engine for flying model. One thing - it is fairly small and rolling the tubes of these diameters is a challenge. What would you recommend for scaling up the engine to get the intake diameter to about 30mm and ...

Hey, Guys, be aware that Chicago Electric ( Made in China) TIG welder has no foot control, no finger control, no frequency control and no pulser to control the heat input on thin sheet metal. Then right equipment for building pulse jets would be TIG machines from China going about $1,000, or ESAB ( ...

Re: Fuel carburation
Larry, I tried simillar thing in the past and was not able to get it going, either too rich or too lean, qiute often flooded, never right. Without good fuel metering I do not see it possible - even propane is touchy on air/fuel ratio. Well, you're right that the slit has to take the role of a meter...

Re: Two-Part Epoxy
Use MEK. Add it to already mixed two parts. Effect seams to be minimal on curing time.Hank wrote:Hello- Has anyone thinned out a two-part epoxy such as PC-7? What solvent did you use and how did the solvent affect cure and strength?

Re: re: Forum Chinese Contest
Well I would like more than one entry per person. I'd like to enter one of my "stock" lariad style chineses, and then one (or more) of the much more advanced engines. If not then I will just bring them along for fun. Will either place have room to run a gokart or bike :D ? And will there be some to...

Rossco, Don't feel bad ! Things happen to people who are active and experiment with different stuff. Life is dangerous. I know, coul'd have been avoided, but after the battle, everybody is a general. ( three wekks ago I messed my eye, also stupid accident ) I wish you the fastest recovery and next t...

OK, how's this for rules: 1. 33" max duct length, favoring Chinese/Thermojet layout, disallowing u-bent linears 2. no limit on intakes 3. no limit on diameter 4. turbines and props ok, not considered part of the length 5. valveless only 6. single CC only 7. bent intakes ok 8. augmentors ok, not con...

re: Forum Chinese Contest
The length restriction only, should be fine. It is up to the builder what kind of tricks he can pull out and win. That is called ingenuity. I assume the objective is to generate most thrust from the given size of the engine - so anything should go and we may see some interesting stuff as the result ...

I know, it is doggy business to set any rules, someone will always bitch. One little additional proposal. Why not setting more than one category. 32", 36", 40" and maybe more ? They would easily compute to compare results. Promise, I will not argue any more - no desire to make things difficult for o...

Re: re: Forum Chinese Contest
Ed, I just deleted your duplicate post and both vanished, sorry! In short, it's 32" +/-1", so your 33 incher is good! And I've said several times that sparkplugs don't count in the length, so no worries if you have a Steve size plug! Mike, How did 32" come about ? I hope that a yard stick could a l...

Re: re: Forum Chinese Contest
Cool looking, though Eric. Brings up a point, though. It is a "Chinese" contest, but really we mean no U-bends, single CC, 32" over-all length, not including sparkers or fuel feeds. I think we should allow a linear if it's recouperator fits in the size limitation. Mike, Mike ! Unfair restrictions !...
