Re: Best Runner, yet
The problem with flat plates is that eventually they will cause cracks. the thermal expansion can only go out perpendicular to the engine, where a cone can have perpendicular and lengthwise expansion. Mild steel wont be too bad because its a lot more conductive, but I personally dome everything at l...

Even 10% should make a noticeable difference. 20% would probably be about optimal for your situation.
Mix up a few mixtures and see how they burn.

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
Yep that pretty well describes it. Also the point that it dips at, would be the same point in free space, that would create a virtual venturi, with the 'nozzle' being made up of a toroidal region of static / recirculating flow, and happens to be where an augmenter should be positioned. I just posted...

Design a better augmenter.. No generic formulas needed.
So I was taking a few shots of some pulsejet plume vorticies and got some interesting results. One looks kind of like a goat sitting, licking its back. The other one looks a lot like an angel with hands extended. Ink blot shapes aside, they are a good visual representation of what happens behind an ...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
Web, The 'falling flame' is one interesting type of ground effect, the flow sticks to the ground and re-ingestion zone is biased towards the top of the engine, creating a higher average static pressure because the average velocity is closer to zero and its easier to pull air out of that region, then...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
Good to see you got it running, though I'd say its still only running at medium throttle. Whats the length of the intake from the front of the valves to the intake opening, and whats the tail length? If there is any blowback coming from the intake you might need to lengthen it a bit, the intake actu...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
With fuel injected into the intake you'll get better valve life than direct injection, from a bit of cooling. If you mix in 10% methanol with the gas you'll get it downright cold. It doesnt need to be as streamlined as the argus, because hopefully you kick will not be going anywhere near as fast as ...

Re: What you want and what you have... are 2 different things
The FWE plans will run off a straight tube injector, nothing fancy needed. Our CD has the plans for the injectors for larger more complex engines, and 50 or so pages of PDF builders guides. Like Metiz said, they are deceptively complex, you can provide all the information needed to build one on the ...

Re: Another pulsejet kick from Sweden
If the valves wont open by blowing in them you need to go thinner, having them closed by default is important. That should make a big difference, what kind of spring steel are you using? Those bursts also seemed to be at a fairly low throttle level... with easier opening valves, and more fuel, you s...

Unfortunately that wont work, there isnt a way to control a pulsejets frequency anywhere near that fidelity.

It will also be something much cooler to land on if you slip.. In the winter time an augmenter like that will be about body temperature when running.

Re: silencer?
The thrust left over after the sound reduction, would be equivalent to the same sound produced by simply running the engine at a lower throttle level with no silencer to begin with.

Re: Failure to acheive resonance
Ok fair enough. One thing I noticed about your comment though: Sometimes it might take a year or more before I make plans for something available, but you can be sure that they not only work, but put out more than advertised. After a year of testing and tweaking, you should know the engine inside-o...

Re: Dual augmented mini's and other jet stuff
Mike, In the not too distant future I plan on having an augmenter assortment pack, available for small engines, say 6 different sizes that you can do in depth tests with. from .7 - 2" ID Things definitely get a little crazy when you try to augment an expanded tail, when you wind up with an augmenter...
