Yep, that certainly look a lot like what I envisioned, apart from the escopette-style slits. I don't know if they would make any difference. They would probably make it breathe easier, and perhaps form a "fresh air barrier" that could make a difference between stable blow torch (burning throughout t...

Ahem... is it just me, or are we arriving at the BCVP here? Remove the intakes -- you don't really need them if you just have stubs for exhausts -- and it all starts looking like something this website first saw in the late 1990s. There's an influential school of thought that says it will not work....

I'd go to a largish lokal sheet metal workshop. Chances are that they can just stamp them out for you in no time. If you find one that makes holes of that size into sheet metal for other reasons, such as a company that makes ventilation systems or some kind industrial chemical equipment, they might ...

Hey, guys, you should try a couple with a cold path (intake-to-intake) in lieu of the hot path (your U-bend). This can be a pretty short link, made with gaps like the U pipe of an Escopette, but double-ended. I've been thinking along those lines as well. I suspect the trick is to set up the pulsati...

Actually, that Moth is just a kit, it's not my own construction. It's the GWS Tiger Moth 400, with, as the name suggests, a 400 motor. Flies nicely, and that extra wing edge works nicely as a dive break. I suspect one could make a faster version just by removing the top wing and calling it a Moth Mi...

Beatuiful, at least from the outboard side. Some minor comments: * Remember to rig the fuel system so that it's compensated for the centrifugal force. There may be problems with teh tank/sump interaction otherwise. * Am I correct in that you are planning to do a retractable gear? How is that going t...

How about re-fueling the tank with a third control line of Teflon spaghetti tubing so that You don't have to land !!!!!!!!!! ( continuous re-fueling )
How much would that length of tubing, full of fuel, weigh? It could be a problem.

Haaaahahaha, that Stipa Caproni is hillarious!.... no.... it will not be anything like that! ha. I didn't mean it will look like that, I meant that the hollow body can give some of that barrelwing effect. How does the yellow go for visability? I have very good eyes, so it doesn't matter either way ...

Lol anders, i'd have loved to have seen that tigermoth. Oh, you can see it: http://rpglab.net/troberg/gallery/view.php?gid=64 It's still alive and well, currently hanging in the ceiling of my computer room. Didn't get that flight on video, though. For whatever reason it doesn't like to be programme...

Don't worry anders, we do kinda sorta know what we are doing ... maybe I didn't mean to offend, I was just rambling about the subject in general. I do that a lot. That simulator video is taken with xplane Aha, that's why I didn't recognize it, I looked for simulators specifically made for model air...

Build it slightly nose heavy, the tail always comes out heavier than expected. Also, there is a saying that goes "A nose heavy aircraft flies badly, a tail heavy aircraft flies once". Always err on the nose heavy side. It's also much easier to correct a nose heavy aircraft. The fuel tanks, especiall...

Have you considered moving the engine forward?

It looks like (just a rough guesstimate) the CG will be way too far back in this configuration, and every gram removed from the tail means five grams of ballast you don't need to put in the nose.

Beautiful wings. Make them straight and put a pointy nose on it, and you almost have an F-104. It looks sturdy as hell. If (or, more commonly, when) it crashes, it will probably do more damage to the ground than the ground does to the aircraft. Attach the wings with something that allows them to bre...
