Re: re: Turboprop PJ experiment update
Hi Stuart Yep, lotsa energy made available by efficiently slowing those exhaust gases . Cheers John The engine I've designed (maybe patentable) is a continuous flow pressure jet (sorta). It now runs (anemically), but it runs! (eureka moment here) and there is plenty of room for tweaking, so hope sp...

Re: re: Turboprop PJ experiment update
Hi Fredrik The PJ's coming along nicely , just finished putting some paint on the heat shielding , just a matter of screwing the panels on and she'll be ready for a testrun with the "new" plastic reeds . Its a bit of a bummer having to develop the basic PJ rather than just making a standard design ...

Re: re: Article - Good Enough for Wikipedia?
All right - egged on by some of my friends here, I have become too impatient for Bruno and have posted it, with a few minor changes for the sake of clarity. L Cottrill Thanks for the work Larry, now it is posted, we can edit online. I've made some fairly critical additions and edits to the wikipedi...

re: Article - Good Enough for Wikipedia?
I'm just starting to get into Wikipedia. The ramjet section leaves a lot to be desired and darn if that doesn't look like a pic of Maggie Mugs as the example. They botched the explanation that a subsonic diffuser and exhaust nozzle are the opposite of the supersonic design. They also left out the fl...

If anybody (USA) wants some references for sources of good product, let me know. Bill H. Acoustic Propulsion Concepts ".......some day soon we'll be flying airplanes powered by pulsejets." I think I've found some sources for up to 4.5 " mandrel bent pipe, but I would have a cow if someone could fin...

Re: re: Gluhareff's hand?
they also squished the intake tubes as well so they aren't circular. Or is that an optical illusion? Stu, that was standard on this type of engine. Irina is still marketing the oval intake model through 'her' website. I saw that after I looked at all the pictures. The only reason to do that is to m...

Re: re: Pressure Vs Pulse Jets
Stuart, wow. Start a new thread and tell us about it! Well, it is definitely a different design and it definitely runs, but it runs like crap so far. Part of the problem was my non-welded prototypes were leaking like sieves, so I've fixed that (some jackass stole my welder). Another problem is find...

It looks like they were mounted as the leading edge of a rotor, but they also squished the intake tubes as well so they aren't circular. Or is that an optical illusion?Mike Everman wrote:Nice specimens. The photos were good enough for me!

Re: re: Bill's Tip o' the Day
The intake runs cool enough to justify the continued use of mild-steel exhaust tubing. Here's a shot of M8E, after its first 7 hot-runs. You'll notice the intake still has its shine--as though it's still an unused part (red arrow). The hot (stainless) portions have a beautiful patina--it's a sort o...

re: Old stuff I had laying around
I sure do remember that stuff, it was inspirational, though it apparently didn't work very well. Now that we have hindsight, it is essentially a Logan without the tail. So, they are trying to do all their resonance in the combustion chamber rather the tailpipe. There must have been something to it, ...

Forget glowplugs, tried that just smoked (need pressure).
Propane or LP are the best fuels for beginners, the liquids are dangerous as hell in comparison. Try the gaseous stuff first, singe your eyebrows a few times in training and learn some respect before you engulf yourself in a liquid fire.

Hi Hagent, Would you say that the pressure jet is the best design around? Most effiecent VS thrust? A day will is soon to come, when most of you will have the oportunity to participate and get involved in the further developpement of the thermo-acoustic jet engine ... And gain from it. Beleive me, ...

Thank you Steve. It appears to be just beyond where the flare ends. Is that just a wide open line? I.E nothing on the end, no pinch ? Looks like 4-5 mm in diameter. Correct? Re: Ramjets and Turbojet combustors
There are similarities between ramjet combustion chambers and those of turbojets. However, modern turbojet combustion chambers tend toward the complex with swirl vanes, high pressure spray nozzles, surface cooling boundary layers, and etc. Production ramjets are more akin to afterburners with simpl...
