Re: Shiver me timbers!

Hej! I measured the kick yesterday and found out that it is possible to support the engine from below. If at all possible, please go this way . The ejectors do not reach to the bottom of the super cone; it should be easy enough to position a rest under the super cone (note: not the exit cone please)...

Re: Shiver me timbers!

Anders,

There was some static on the line earlier; I hope that this did not disturb your work.
Please proceed as was discussed. If you cannot do this, then ignore what I post here.

Cheers,
M.

Re: Shiver me timbers!

Hejsan Anders! Cap'n M. drank all my rum while watching this movie on DVD, then passed out on the fo'c'sle ( peace at last! ). Sounds like a good plan there, cap´n. I´ll get right to it! :D To the maximum extent possible, weld the 140 mm mounting rail continuousl y along its length to the sup...

Re: Shiver me timbers!

Ahoy, Anders! I give ye me blessing to drop ye mounts off the kick frame on down to Thunderchine's tailpipe. However, there be some modifications to ye proposed plan of attack. Here they be in list form : [1] Lay ye down a steel mounting rail atop the super cone , then ye weld it fast; [2] The rail ...

Re: Shiver me timbers!

Avast! That crude frame . [snip...] . I never intended to use it to mount the engine to the kick. I should have explained that better. Ye be making the understatement of the year there, matey. Me blood be boiling with the furies now! The entire engine has to be suspended from the kick frame in fron...

Shiver me timbers!

Ahoy, Anders! It became very steady with no flex at all so it should prove a good high speed frame. The engine mounts will make it even stiffer so I am pretty satisfied with it. Most excellent news, matey. An extra round of grog for ye troubles! M., what do you think of mounting the engine like this...

Re: Vin Diesel

Hejsan Anders! How can I tell if the fuel is overheated in the coil? Given the very short running time of this project (including tests), this is nothing but a distraction. There are people on forum who use the words "vapouriser coil" as an excuse to remind everyone of their personal experiences (hi...

Re: Vin Diesel

Hejsan Anders, Why exactly is diesel such a bad choice of fuel? Diesel is a perfectly acceptable fuel; the concern here is the use of a vapourising coil with a fuel specifically intended for use in high compression internal combustion engines. I think people will whinge too loudly about diesel cokin...

Hello Fedde, Makes me wonder. Uflow it is? Or is there more in this wonderous world? Re: Thermonese Thrust Test Troubles

Hello Metiz, Thanks for running it through its paces, M. No problem. I was happy to do it. The 5-lber was a real treat to model. It "punches above its weight". :D Yeah the intakes are not perfect. Keep in mind that 100% of the oxygen for combustion comes through the intakes. "Handle with care". :win...

Re: Thermonese Thrust Test Troubles

. Not 4 bar, 4 atm=3 bar (in fact 3080mbar). Sorry. It is 4 bar , total pressure, as I used the word "immerse". Please insert coin and try again. So you have the .qsav for the 5lb thermonese? Sorry. I do not use NUDiS . I have never used NUDiS . I will never use NUDiS . No .qsav is available...

Re: Thermonese Thrust Test Troubles

. I will post again once the model converges. Well, turns out there was no need to converge a model. Static thrust was available early on and so I decided to "pull the plug" on this exercise until more information is made available. If I consider the stated dimensions onl y , then sea level static ...

I'm on it!

I previously validated your 5-lber, so this one should pose no problem for my model.
I will post again once the model converges. And then we shall see what can be seen.

Cheers,
M.

Re: Vin Diesel

. Thunderchine reserves space between the intake couples and the combustor-transition join specifically to accommodate vapouriser coils . Here are some photos of Joe's coil installation: coil-setup_grim_1.png coil-setup_grim_2.png Keep in mind that it's ca. 450 mm around the transition in this area...
