Snow and Annular Combustion chambers

Viv - When I first read your posting I thought your new pastime was pressure jet engines, and then I got it. You were talking about snow! Obviously you are like I WAS, a snow virgin. Growing up where there is seldom any of the stuff you think it is cool and the feeling even stays that way for a few ...

Misc items

Luc, I almost forgot to ask about the flex hose to decouple the coils from the injection nozzle. Any luck finding one and if so, any chance of it making it into this build of the engine? Viv, snow. You had to ask about snow..... It just started again and they say we could get another foot of the whi...

New Coils

Guys: I do like the look of the new coils so far. More stability because of the construction method, longer coils for more heat transfer, less complex plumbing… So far the wish list is going well. Now if we can just keep them from singing for a while we have a chance of seeing what this thing can ...

Recording Tips

Luc Listed below are a few suggestions on how to set up your new equipment for recording: 1 - Hook up all your recording equipment, but leave it turned off for now. 2 - Make sure your PC software is loaded and ready to record, then set your PC’s Line In level at about 50%. 3 - On the mixer, turn y...

Your Sample Sound File

Luc Hopefully both Viv and Graham have taken a good look at your sound file file and have already provided you with constructive feedback. Just in case they have not, I took a look at it with Sound Forge. The volume is low, but that can be taken care of with a bit of adjustment. What does trouble me...

Microphone

Luc One more important thing to look for on the Condenser mic is a 10db down switch. Typically this will allow the mic to operate at much higher SPL. The B5 I recommended had an upper limit of 150db with this feature turned on. Considering what I heard when I was there (that sucker is loud!) it woul...

More thoughts on coils.

Hello All: Just a few quick thoughts on the coils: - If resonance does turn out to be the problem and we have difficulty suppressing it with bars, clamps, etc… can we solve the problem another way? EG: o Redesign the coils to resonate at a frequency that does not interfere with the operation of th...

Buffalo and Snow

Viv The weather had finally cleared for a bit and had warmed up and rained enough that only the glaciers formed by all the snow plowing and dumping remained. However, your asking must have tempted the gods of snow, because it is back again this morning. Now if I just had a working pressure jet I cou...

Flex hose

Dave (decook1110)
I checked out the parts you found on the McMaster. This may be a nice solution to the problem.
Dave (Dave)
PS: This Dave and Dave and Dave to Dave thing may start to be confusing.

Recording stuff

Luc
You moved fast on the recording equipment. Where did you find the stuff so fast and what mic did you end up with?

Luc Yup, I do remember our conversation on the subject. Unfortunately I made a few new assumptions as well: 1 - That you would securely mount the injection nozzle, first stage and second stage to the mounting strut so they would not move. 2 - That we would get enough flex out of a 360 degree expansi...

Quick thought on flex for the fuel line

Guys
Just a quick thought on a flex point for the fuel line. It is not fancy, but how about a simple loop in the line. This would allow for some expansion / contraction but would create yet another source for heat loss. Just an idea.

Coil stabalizer

Luc / Patrick I just looked at the new coil design: 1. Go for the flat bar for now as this should prove / disprove the concept. A self supporting clip design that does not clamp to the CC walls may prove less troublesome in the long run, but you can always change to that later. 2. Love the new side ...

Viv I am glad to see that I am not the only one obcessed with seeing the results. I feel like a kid on christmas morning waiting for mom and dad wake up... After seeing Luc's Monday thing I decided to run home for lunch so I can see the new coil design and send Luc my recommendations for a Mic, etc....
