re: Great People You Never Heard Of

Hmmm.

Reminds me of the "Doomed Engineers" page.

Re: re: SS67B-3

how does it use the kmno4? cos I made some attemps with it but could never "hold it" in place long enough. could you post a simple scheme or something? thanks Pablo Hi Pablo. The KMn04 is made into a kind of muddy paste. You pack it around the inside of the combustion chamber with a plastic spatula...

Re: re: $200 Hang Glider

Unlike some of the other fellows here, I'm with you Steve! I understand what you are wanting to do and it sounds like great fun to me, you are plenty young enough that crashing into the beach shouldn't do more damage than some really mean strawberries. I do think the conduit is a bad idea though, n...

Works for me Mark. I just wish we could buy it here like that. It's been harder to find. I used to buy it from the water softener people, but they won't sell it to the general public anymore, since it's a known ingredient in improvised munitions.

Re: SS67B-3

does anyone have any experince with the SS67B-3 enging from systeme solaire? Thanks Tom. Sure. I put one together in the late 90's. I purchased my plans (SS67B-1) directly from System Solaire. Nice system. Moderate thrust (about 70lbs), good height. Easy to obtain parts. Harder to obtain the KMn04 ...

Re: re: $200 Hang Glider

Steve, I am disturbed to read your posting even if I take it as a joke. You're a pilot -- you should be aware of aircraft grade materials, parts, fastenings etc. You probably know how expensive they are and you probably know why. Those reasons apply to hang-gliders five-fold, because a hang glider ...

re: $200 Hang Glider

Steve, you might want to check out these guys.

My uncle built the Bug4 and flies it out of the Collingwood gliding area. You should be able to put one together for under a grand. And best of all, it adapts well to a small motor.

Enjoy

Paul.

re: MELTING METALS IN A DOMESTIC MICROWAVE

There's lots of ideas around that actually work regarding home smelting eg; http://www.visi.com/~darus/foundry2/ And the Gingery foundry is a piece of absolute brillance. I just liked the idea of trying this in a microwave. I haven't the time these days as I'm building other projects, but if someone...

Re: re: Motorcycle chassis

Hello, Paul- Years back I was researching Carbon Fiber as structural material. I found links that, while not direct to your request, provided scads of relevent info, especially Bicycle frames. My family built a bike named Schickel back in the second decade of the last century. We used Aluminium for...

re: Theory of Gravitation

Great discussion so far. It's strange though that no one has once mentioned string theory though. There's no way to discuss a modern understanding of gravity without discussing Bosonic String Theory, M Theory, quantum gravity, and Supersymetry.

Funny (not in a ha ha way).

re: The hands of the clock....

I have to say "Meh". I lived through the Cuban missle crisis, the Korean Air Incident (KAL007), the invasion of Afghanistan in '79, the utterly inept Reagan ""Ladies and gentlemen, we have outlawed Russia forever...we begin bombing in 5 minutes", and the 80s began with the failure of a 46-cent compu...

MELTING METALS IN A DOMESTIC MICROWAVE

Seems kinda looney, but hey, I'll try it.
