Stellite

Hello- Thanks, Mike. I haven't sold on or even looked at eBay for a while. I make swaging dies for projectiles. The market just wasn't there for either the dies or the bullets. Stellite is the original hot spray surface coating. Developed by Vickers in the late 30's for Rolls-Royce Aero, it is Chrom...

Surge

The reason centrifugal compressors are rarely run in series are surge effects between the units causing pressure losses. The controls required are more of a complexity then running an axial flow unit. The US invested a considerable chunk of change in developing a two-stage cetrifugal compressor for ...

Chrome

Hello- Sparks, have you considered chrome plating? This element and the material Stellite have been used for years to provide a hard seating face to poppet valves. Hotsprayed Aluminum could work also. Either way you will wind up with a surface with a greater life expectency than your valves. As I ha...

Hello- I've noticed that the Americans are starting to call what is called elsewhere an Augmentor an Ejector. Sort of like the division in root semantics that has tyre and tire or hood and bonnet.
Bangers and rashers to you all. Hank

Hello- Yes, Bruno, Britian (BBC) sure has a marketshare of my head. When five O' clock rolls around its BBC and Deutche Welle that gives me the news of the day. A lot of what passes for news on some of the local networks and CNN just isn't to me. A few years back the Russian news service had a half ...

I'm waiting

Hello, I'm definitely waiting to see this one. I like the social analysis undercurrent that goes with these Scrapyard/Junkyard shows. My favorite (probably until I view Simpson & Co.'s efforts) was the glider building competition. I understand the relations of the guy who got the Rolls. I was marrie...

Hello- Looks like a winner. As Larry mentioned make sure you've got enough effective intake area. I used 40% of frontal area for my first engine and the duct looked like a well used tube of toothpaste after a few seconds. (I have a 70% Radial Valve array in the works now.) Using thin metal (.025) di...

Extending Valve Life

Hello- This issue you mention is the major factor in the operating life of a Pulse Jet Engine. I've given much thought and some experimentation to this. Consideration of mechanical design and material used will be of more use to increasing usable life of engine than unloading the valve from the seat...

Hello, all- Just registered on this new format.
I see a severe problem here. I just printed out Graham's post on my printer. All of the Greek Literals were printed as question marks.
Please advise. Attachment function Test next.
