re: not-Eric and the half-a-Bcvp

OK, Ok, brain in positive feedback loop - overheat imminent.....warning If the point of combustion is considered to be at the rear open end of the tube, then breathing is not a problem. Lots of fresh air right there. So what we have now is a tube, closed one end, open the other. Fuel is introduced a...

not-Eric and the half-a-Bcvp

Mike, how about a threat on the half-BCVP? your comment on halving the engine. I had the same idea a few years back. I even made a first prototype that didn't work. Which doesn't mean much because its the only VPJ prototype I have ever made, and my failure rate is 100% But the theory sounds good. ;-...

re: Claiming the BCVP Title Back

A degree does not make a human being. Some of you guys make we wanna hand mine back in. And thats a Physics degree. You engineering scum can call me God ;p Bruno, are you laying claim to your design, and similar derivatives, or to any VPJ that creates a high pressure environment for the pulse? Does ...

re: Increase net thrust?

Hi Guys, one of the issues with the Feynman sprinkler concept is in its extrapolation to our engine situation. The thought experiment implies that the vacuum accelerates mass that was previously stationary, and that mass is then stopped, or turned to a perpendicular direction, so that its momentum i...

re: Increase net thrust?

You are right to an extent, and if the air being sucked in from the sides flows across a surface (say a plate at right angles to the tube) then you will get reduced pressure there, which can be used to add to thrust. (I think this is the effect of the rolled lip on the lockwood augmenters) but, ther...

re: Afterburning thrust augmenter?

Hey Bruno, I think of the concept of sort of a hybrid pulse/ram stye augmenter (at least thats my idea. not sure about the provided diagrams.) The augmentor runs a bit like a Ramjet. Stationary, it can only work when a pulst of pressure /flow arrives from the pulsejet. would need some form of flameh...

Could that extra baffle be a flame holder?

re: RamFan Engine?

Hi Don, Don here. I don't know how to calculate the thrust, but this is a rouch rule of thumb for pulsejets - I believe it goes like 50 lbs thrust is the same as that produced by an engine of 40 hp spinning a prop. Maybe you can then scale to appropriate helicopter load/HP ratios. While we are dream...

re: Tesla's Valvular Conduit

Hi guys, a couple of comments: Turning the moving gas around , a la Lockwood, actually transfers twice the momentum of the gas to the engine. Its probably the major source of thrust. Re: the Tesla vavle, try thinking of it as laminar flow one way, highly turbulent the other. As it stops the exiting ...

re: Forum M1E Latest Info

Hi Bill, note : Just for your amusement, one of my other hobbies is trying to learn to fly a gyrocopter. I have a small 50 HP cyclone design machine waiting in the shed until I can get my licence. Naturally, one of my dreams is to power it with a pulsejet.... I figure I need about 60 lbf. Initially ...

re: supercharged ramjet

You are probably right. Maybe not optimal, but heaps for a proof of concept. Quote: The ramjet would efectively look like an active or powered augmentor to the pulsejet, and the PJ would look like a pulsed pressure source to the ramjet. Not as "pulsed" as you might think. The air mass entrainment ha...

Mikes dominant mode...

oooh Mike, you one sick puppy! >>BTW, another neat thing about sinusoidal pressure inputs is that you can start the run with different dominant modes. You might (and I wish I had time to) see if it's worth kicking the frequency up to the second harmonic, or if it's possible to do so. As if it wasn't...

Ah, Dear Viv, I haven't been following this argument, but I can say that for you to vanish would be punishing lots of other people, like me, who want your input in the future, regardless of what others may have said to you here. Please don't go away. Flame wars on the internet are inevitable. But at...
