re: R1 Update

Thanks!

It was only run up in power (with a needle valve) during the last few seconds of that video, and then I shut off the main ball valve. That was all the propane I could deliver to the motor back then, and it wasn't enough to drive it to extinction.

re: R1 Update

BTW, according to the methods of maximum thrust estimation of certain "experts" here on the forum, this level of thrust from an engine this small ISN'T EVEN THEORETICALLY possible. By their estimation, an engine this small should put out a maximum thrust of about 28 lbs. Considering that, 38 lbs. is...

R2 - Pulsejet without any tapered sections

I've now had a chance to thrust-test the second engine I've built using my design paradigm. I've designated the new engine R2. The purpose of this experiment was twofold: [1] To see if my design paradigm could be used to design an engine without any tapered sections, that is, built from all straight...

...everything went smoothly. Quick, reliable and helpful. Ditto for Anders, it was a pleasure working with him. His communications were excellent, and the transaction was very simple, despite the distance involved. Thanks again, Anders. Let me know if you ever have any problems or questions. Best r...

Re: re: General Ramjet Info Please

Yes, I made this one last Spring. Did some preliminary test runs on Jet A1 in the summer. but haven't done much since due to pressure of other interests. It has a two ring V Gutter stepped Flame holder and six injectors. Very nice work, multispool! During your test runs, did you get a chance to mea...

Very cool, Ben.

You took a nice photo! Got any close-ups of the throttle-valve? [On the feed line, about 3 inches from the decomposition chamber]. Or views from another angle?

re: dave's corner 2

LOL - Wish I could tell you... :-(

Oh well, it's cool to see one fly in person. I saw the Bell original fly in about 1966, back when people didn't worry so much about crowd control. I was less than 75 feet away, just a child sitting on my Dad's shoulders, and it just about blew my eardrums out...

Thanks, Anders, I appreciate that.

I'm over it, and I'm not leaving.

The thing I've learned from this is that Idiots are a lot like apparitions. One gives them power by paying them heed.

re: dave's corner

El-Kablooey and Simon, Thank you, Gentlemen, for your good advice. I shall try to heed it. In the spirit of your example, Simon, I'll leave it at this. By the way, Mike and I have settled our differences by taking turns punching each other in the shoulder until our knees buckled, and we are buds onc...
