re: need help solving my 555 igniter circuit

I don't know what to tell you, its to hard to diagnose from the information given. The diagram I have provided is easily built, and converts 12VCD into 12VAC @ 200hz. Feed that into an ignition coil, and every time the current switches, a spark will be emitted.

re: need help solving my 555 igniter circuit

Going out on a limb, because your explanations are very confusing (sorry)... Do you have the metal thermal conductor on the back of the FET grounded? If so this could be a problem, and either is shorting (canceling/weakening the signal) or has burned out the mosfet completely. Do not ground that, it...

re: Toxic fumes boiling KNO3 in water.

Oh and I would like to mention that these results are much more likely to take place by boiling the kno3 itself, at its boiling point. Just boiling a an aqueous solution of it, will yield barely any of the effects I spoke of above, so don't be too concerned, just don't snuff the vapor.

re: Toxic fumes boiling KNO3 in water.

Its releasing nitrogen and oxygen. Those are fine to breathe as that's mostly what our air is. The problem is in many instances it will also produce nitrogen oxides, N2O (laughing gas) but more potent, NO nitric oxide and NO2, nitrogen dioxide which are very harmful. As long as you keep a little ven...

re: DANGER epoxy fire!!

Yes, I have has a bad experience with epoxy. I was gluing two wings together on a 1/4 scale plane. I was using my favorite 30 min epoxy. I mixed a rather larger batch than normal (1/4 cup) because this was a big job, (still relatively small compared to a real glassing job). I was mixing it an my nor...

re: Steam engine

Oh hell, what started out as one cylinder, turned into 4, and at that point I just figured I would make the whole thing original, so I completely designed it myself. Feel free to build it, but you might want to wait till I do first. Its an inline 4, single stroke, with a total displacement of 22 cc....

re: titanium valve head

Sure If you have the tools to machine such a material. You will need flood coolant with any machine operation, carbide C-2 or M42 HSS (preferably coated with TiN, TiCN, TiAlN). Keep the feed rates slow to reduce heat buildup.

Steam engine

As a project to keep myself busy, I would like to build a small steam engine, one maybe cylinders with a boiler. Something for a nice desk model, it will mostly likely not power anything. Does anyone have some good clear plans on the parts/ assembly. I will CNC almost everything (I know it takes the...

re: How to test stump remover for KNO3?

Ok, your asking for help with chemistry all over this forum, yet I see you try and give advice as you know what your talking about.... I get worried. Chemicals can be dangerous, and giving advice as a novice is not a good idea. Every time I see this happening, I cringe!!! See the attachment, Nuff sa...

re: How to test stump remover for KNO3?

That the test proves absolutely nothing! Any oxidizer mixed with a sugar (fuel) will make smoke and a flame.

re: How to test stump remover for KNO3?

Its pure KNO3, I work at Home Depot and have the all the MSDS's. The first thing I did when I started working there was to look up all the unknown chemicals they sell under different names or products. HEHE
