Graham, I must confess I've not even looked at nudis yet since I don't have Excel, however I'm going to try and get into it soon. The model shows this tailpipe design has 2 possible locations for the centre of combustion. The first is very close to the sparkplug and the second just behind the induct...

Twin Lady Anne

Hi Graham I might make another Lady Anne with slightly bigger intakes at some point, what size would you suggest? I think maybe 22mm, if it doesn't run at that I can always just taper them down toward 20mm over the length of the straight section. I've been meaning to try a normal FWE with a heavily ...

Twin intake Lady Anne.

I tried running it with some small radial drilled fuel nozzles, I was hoping they would give better mixing and less air entrainment. It still ran solidly but thrust was no better and it proved more difficult to start.

Twin intake Lady Anne.

Larry Cottrill wrote:Are you willing & able to post a simple drawing of the final "as built" dimensions?

Here's a drawing, I was expecting to have to cut the intakes down but it ran so I left them, maybe it would work better if they were a couple of millimetres shorter.

Jim, Mike wasn't insulting your pulsejet, I think he was referring to the fuel consumption of the production Thermojet (J-200?) The one which all pulsejets that look like Thermojets, look like ;-) I've got to say I'm highly surprised that your thermojet makes 3.4lbs of thrust, Is that augmented? I t...

Double-Intake Lady Anne

Larry, It definitely makes well over 4lbs, I was using a spring scale to measure thrust and it showed 2kgs, which is about 4.4lbs, however I'd like to do some more tests using my original water lifting rig, to confirm this figure. As for weight, made from 0.7mm stainless it's 550 grams (1.25lbs) so ...

Double-Intake Lady Anne

I made some changes to the twin intake Lady Anne this week, I moved the intakes forward slightly, angled them so they point more towards the front dome and made them slightly longer. I also modified the fuel pipes to give a much better spread of fuel, they're now similar to Larry's lemniscate design...

Super Simple Heat-Recovery Ram Air Augmentors

I like it Larry, I'll try something like that once I've got it running stronger. I'd quite like to try a full length shell also at some point, to see how much it cools the combustion chamber walls while running static.

Thanks for the comments guys, I had lots of fun testing it. In the video you can see some water get blown out of the jug as I'm pouring, it just seemed to atomise instantly as it became airborne, pulverised by the air pressure, an interesing effect to witness close up. The other thing I forgot to me...

Lady Anne variation.

I decided to modify my last Lady Anne build (rev 02) I've now made it similar to Larry's latest revision 06 drawing, except I used two intakes 20mm diameter, which I think gives roughly the same area as one at 28mm (as per rev 02 drawing). I had good fun testing it today, but the results were a slig...

The Mangy Dance.

That's excellent James, the fact that it runs is great news for me especially because i've already built one, which I should be able to test on monday. Mine's not quite the same as yours, there is one major difference, but it shares the same basic dimensions. The frequency in the video peaked at aro...

FWE Development 2004 - Today

Larry, its nice to see them all together, I noticed one very minor typo though, the first Lady Anne should have had a 23mm intake not 20mm (although the one i built was actually 22.5mm)

Lady Anne Rev02 and Full Size Plan for Rev06

Go for it James, I'll modify mine at some point, the problem is I don't get much chance to do testing because I have lots of neighbours, so its doubtful if I'll be able to do anything with it for a couple of weeks. You've got the pulsejet bug now, you'll have a garage full of them before you know it.

Lady Anne prettiest FWE

The fuel pipe was just a straight pipe 2.4mm inside diameter and located approximately as shown in the picture below. I'm going to try a few small mods on this version and see if I can get it nearer to 3lbs of thrust, the intake flare was never as good as it could have been and I want to play with t...
