More on SFC
Straight turbo jets run SFC's a little over 1 Big super effient and expensive turbo fans have hit .4 Williams FJ44 is around .5 3.1 and 4.3 are really bad Take your range and cut it to around 1/6. Multply your fuel costs by 6. Propane is more bulky than petrol and has to be in a pressure vessel (no ...

Nick name
Thanks Luc, I feel spoiled :) Anyway you're not the first to question the username, watch out, it tips me off. I just get sick of having to come up with a new user name everytime I go somewhere on the net. That name is very unique and the only time I have a problem using it is when I try to start a ...

SFC??
Luc Using your 6.6 litres/min I did a quick calculation on SFC and I come up with 3.5 lbs/lbs hr at 145 pounds thrust. I'm using the only density I can find a the moment of 583 kg/m^3 (@-40 celsius) . Do you have a more accurate value you can share. Have you made an effort to quantify SFC pretty acc...

Steady Combustion
That is the debate on these engines. It is my opinion that the engines is a 'steady' burner that has continuous combustion similar to a turbojet. It uses the dynamic pressure of the incoming propane and air to create its pressure ratio and generate thrust. The reason all the acoustic fiddeling is ne...

Odd thoughts on how it works
On a side note while Luc is struggling with his 130R I thought I would fire up a discussion on the pressure jet in general. I'm going to through some thoughts out there and get some feedback. As a disclaimer I am not a vibrations or acoustical expert. I think the acoustical tuning on the G-8-2 is st...

More hose info
McMaster is limited to 1/2 inch and bellows line that diameter may be a bit restrictive for a long length. If my memory serves me right, the nozzle line is 5/8 of an inch and the nozzle throat is .250 . Correct me if I'm wrong. Any way, Detroit Flex has the belows hose in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 , 1 1...

Hose
I beleive its a bellows hose. We use a similar high temp high pressure bellows hose from a local supplier below Detroit Flex www.hosenow.com 248-280-1171, but that would be special order, more time and probably cost more. McMaster Carr is great, I order everything I can there for work. Best sales we...

I can't remember the guys name right now, but he is in the G8-2 tech manual. As I mentioned he wasn't very scientific, but he did mention checking thrust by pushing against a scale with the aiplanes nose. he had gone through a few iterations to get the engines to run properly. He implied that Uegene...

Luc I haven't read every post, but most of them, let me know if I missed this. Do you have a graph of thrust vs nozzle pressure. What I'm wondering is if its linear in your case. I briefly tested a small pressure jet years back and did get rated thrust and SFC. I also spent many years planning on us...

SFC calc repost
I cut it out of the original post, it took a while to find.. Its actually a pretty simple calculation, surprises me that it took 5 years of daydreaming about using the engine to do a simple analysis like this. To make this easier Im going to define the variables I'm using, this isn't matlab.... ft (...

SFC??
The SFC on these bigger engines is likely exagerated. If you look at the data for the different engines you will see a distinct jump from sfc's around 4 to 1.3 and even .75 . I played around with the idea of experimenting with these for many years and couldn't get one to do a well instrumented test ...
