re: Lockwood powered bicycle
Quick report. The bike was a dismal failure due to way too much moisture on the desert. The alkali is like glue when it's wet so the rolling resistance was huge. It went, but not more than 5 mph. The wind was pretty high too, which made it tough. Since it didn't go, we didn't bother with the video. ...

Re: re: Lockwood powered bicycle
Since the engine is offset from thr bycicle c/l, it is going to create a moment on engines arm ( a distance from the c/l ) and swirl the vehicle to the left and you may not have enough steering grip to counteract such moment. Also you would sit on the left, which produces more drag - braking and ot...

Re: re: Mark Pauline and Survival Research Labs
I just downloaded the video and it works fine in WMP 6.4.07 . To say the least, what a display! Thanks. This show has now been put on my list of events to attend. Do you know if he(they) is(are) part of the Burning Man event? My WMP is complaining about codecs again. I just have to download them. T...

re: Lockwood powered bicycle
Thanks all, for the comments. Larry, No brake enhancement has been done. This is just a quick lash up for desert rides. I doubt it will ever see much speed. My lockwood design isn't super powerful, although it has pushed our largest studio mate around with two tanks feeding it. Anyhow, it'll be good...

re: Mark Pauline and Survival Research Labs
Here's the video my friend took of the engine.
http://gallery.b12labs.com/v1.mpg
At less than 10 feet away, the shockwaves were just unreal.
My damn Windows Media Player is broken, but it played last time I tested it.
Enjoy.

Lockwood powered bicycle
Even though our shop and warehouse are completely packed and in limbo, I got enough stuff together to build a vehicle for this weekend's 4th of July fun out at Black Rock Desert in Nevada. It's a sidecar bicycle my wife and I built to ride around Burning Man last least. We tested the pulsejet out la...

re: Mark Pauline and Survival Research Labs
I've seen that V1 run in person as well as the hovercraft and his 2x4 launcher. All very impressive. I posted a video of the V1 running on Mission Street in SF on the forum. I'll have to check if it's still at the right URL so you can watch it. That engine is spiritual, to say the least. It has a bi...

re: Converted CNC mill for mold tooling
Here's a picture of my little Sherline mill with the motor driver board and one of the new motors. It's all sitting on an old "Short Arc Lamp Power Supply" box I rescued from the trash at work. I'll get a rotary table when the cash allows. I've already got 4 motors and a 4 axis controller.
Fun!

Re: re: Converted CNC mill for mold tooling
Wow, gee, you're many steps ahead of me. Please give us a update after your project is completed. If you are milling the diffuser, the rotatry table will be needed. Wish you best luck converting the machine ! Certainly. I'll try to snap some photos of the gear all spread out on the table tonight. I...

re: Converted CNC mill for mold tooling
Skyfrog, Homebuilt CNC is not a bad idea, especially for wax cutting. I've built a CNC plasma cutter which was used to cut all of our pulsejet parts as well as many other parts and art pieces. I am in the middle of converting a small sherline mill to cnc. I've got all the parts on my bench at home a...
