I sat down and designed one of these when I was about 12 years old. My uncle had purchased an old one still in the package, so I looked it over and drew up some designs for the boat and cut it out of a peice of tin. Found a little gas tank at the hobby house along with a couple peices of brass tubin...

Hi, just thought I would mention that I was finally able to get a hold of the guy that was going to cut these for me, though it seems he doesn't have the needed equipment to do something like this. I am now looking at ordering it through emachineshop.com. It looks like from them it will cost around ...

Thanks for for tip, I will talk to him and see what he says. He will probably do the work for free, and what he can't do with his own equipment he can take to work with him and cut it there if need be. Fixing to head over to his house in a few minutes so we will see what he says.
Thanks,
Tony Ithaca

From what I can tell, what he is using is not hard to make. You just have to know what chemicals you need and what common names they are sold under. I have worked with some of the same things he has, and I can personally say that the chemicals to make these are not hard to get. On the other hand, th...

Any major flaws with this valve design?
Hi, I am still working on my large pulse jet, 200lb of thrust, and well am working on the valve design. I know that one person said that 30 degrees was a good angle for the valves, but I can't seem to get enough valve area into that angle. The set of valves I am looking at making will be at 60 degre...

From personal experience, of those two mixtures I would go with the carbon/sulfur/KNO3 mixture. The reason sugar/sucrose rockets are getting popular is due to the cost. I am also under the assumption that most view the sugar/sucrose mixtures as being safer then the carbon/sulfur/KNO3 mixtures. I hav...

I have been wondering the same thing. I might be able to weld it myself, have a tig torch for my stick welder, and small glass beading box I could probably purge with argon to weld in. I just don't know what is required to mill it. I have a friend who is a machinist who I am going to have cut a valv...

Yes, the long rope was the MSD for launching the trebuchet as part of the guidelines when we were using it for the school project, otherwise we just use a much shorter steel cable to pull the pin out, a long rope was just attached the steel cable to meet the requirements for the project. The photogr...

No, it didn't move much at all, but it was bolted and welded to that trailer, which unfortunately we borrowed from a guy, and had to take the trebuchet off of, but we have another trailer coming that we can permanently mount it to. The guy in the picture is not me, but one of the others that worked ...

Hi, finally got some time to sit down at my computer, staying busy between school and work. I would like to offer a great thanks to the advice I have received here, as it will go a long way toward this project. All the tubes have been rolled and I should be able to start tig welding them together ne...

correct me if i am wrong here, but the vacume in the combustion chamber aswell as opening the valves for air it pulls the fuel though into the chamber so no pressure is needed? so the co2 tank wont be needed! I have read that it would, but then I have also read of not having a high enough flow rate...
