re: Uflow usable for pulsejets?

I think intake flaring is mostly needed to prevent / reduce the forming eddy's in the intake path, wich restrict maximum airflow.

Perhaps U-flow isn't extended enough to calculate local turbulence like eddy's, or any turbulence at all.. I can't tell, I haven't spend much time with the program yet.

re: Twin Lockwood Moped

I've finally got a movie of the first run on propane with the new injector type. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=41FUYIYM (you have to wait 45 seconds before you can start the download) The last time i started this one was more than a year ago, so i needed a few attempts to get it started again. In the...

Twin Lockwood Moped

1,5 year ago i've build two 5,25" lockwoods from 316 stainless, and ran one of them a few times on a simple propane injection. On propane gas it wouldn't give full power, and on liquid it would run over-rich, and die after a couple of seconds. 2 or 3 months ago I started building them on a moped, an...

re: Jet bike

the guys from http://www.turbokart.com build quite a few turbine projects, including a small 100hp turboshaft engine on a kart.
An engine of this size might be just perfect for fitting in a bikes frame, without affecting the original looks of the bike too much.

re: Twin Lockwood bike

nice engines! Are these build to the 5,25" lockwood drawing? If so, I've build the same engines about 1,5 year ago. Just like your engines, I only finished and ran one of them back then, hehe. http://members.lycos.nl/pjproject/files/5.jpg IF you're planning to really mount both engines to a two whee...

re: Lockwood powered bicycle

nice work!

I'm also working on a lockwood powered vehicle, involving some new fuel injection stuff. All engine related work should be finished by tomorrow, after that it's only building a subframe to put the engines on the vehicle, and a connect a lot of cables, wires, tubes, etc.

re: Home built ignition generator unit

Yesss! :D I finaly got this circuit working stable!! All the components are staying at normal temperature (using 2 irf640 FETs without heatsink) And as steve says on his site, don't use a battery charger as a power source.. I've used this all the time while debugging the circuit, and when it finally...

re: Cone layout

This program is very handy for making those cone layouts, just enter the right values for the cone, and you can print the layout on paper. I used this program a lot for the 2 stroke exhausts and pulsejets i've build. http://www.pulserate.com/ -edit- I just saw that the new version on their site is l...

re: Another (easy starting) FWE

but you are also using a spark right?. could you perhaps try to start it without the spark, but just with the lighted stinger, to see if it makes any difference?

re: The Secret of Rossco’s Stinger

I've tried to start my chinese with such a stinger (about 4mm I D, cut at about 45 degrees), without using a spark. It immediatly starts a quite steady pulsating combustion, but just in the intake tube, and not at all as loud as i'm used to get from my old lockwood. Propane pressure can be raised to...

re: A costly purchase

at a show i've talked with one of these guys about the turbines they use in their tractor puller, ex-rusian helicopter engines. If my memory is well, they bought them for about 15.000 euros a piece.

re: good source for beginners sheet steel

here is a picture of it the intake is adjustable in length, the pipe on the intake is for adjusting the length without burning my fingers too bad. Unfortunalty I wasnt able to run it tonight, because my boss didn't really trust this 'strange looking pipe' in combination with a 5kg propane bottle sit...

Re: re: good source for beginners sheet steel

Nanosoft made a great one to that plan. 4.5 lb max thrust. Ed made a 66mm diameter scale up of it too. What I wish someone would make is this one, from a Chinese website. It's very similar, with a larger exit tube. Do you mean no one on this forum has build that model yet?? i've made that one last ...
