Re: Valveless pulsejet-computational fluid dynamics
Hi Ganesh, There are 6 holes of .035" diameter at the transition between intake and CC, pointing at 45 degrees from the centerline, toward a point on the centerline a bit into the CC. pocket jet injector holes.PNG I do not have a solid fuel massflow number from test, but at one time predicted it at ...

Re: Plumbing Pulse jet stalling
The intake looks too short, and needs to be rounded inside as much as the wall thickness will allow.

Re: Lockwood Hiller pulse jet rules of thumb?
Holy Canoli. 26" tailpipe exit? Might I suggest you start with a smaller, known to run motor to get yer feet wet? There's a lot to it before jumping into something so dangerous.
Scaling is definitely screwy up in this range.

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.
Welcome Newbs! I sure hope you find a usable 2d cfd code. How hard could it be?? Ha We definitely had fun with 1d uflow and nudis, but something more appropriate is needed. It is too much to expect I suppose to have freeware that would run pulsating combustion events, but I wait patiently. Happy pul...

Re: Mike's Build Log
We may be wondering: Why, Mike, Why? Well, reasoning goes like this: I don't want a big horribly loud motor that wriggles my gizzards to push me around if I can create some mechanical advantage with a smaller one. I could technically push myself around with this 5 lb thrust, but it would not tolerat...

Re: Mike's Build Log
yeah, this is a fun one, Mark. With the skate wheel driving the side of the bike wheel, it will be a bout 1700 RPM per 10 MPH. I think it should take the heat, and part of it is going to be pumping cool air, so maybe it won't get as hot as I fear. I got the right angle gearheads today. Pretty beefy....

Re: Mike's Build Log
You know, once you let go of any dreams of high performance pushing a bike around with 5 lb of thrust, the problem opens up and gets really fun. Doing some math, I realized that making a larger diameter free turbine gets me very little. My original thought was that the thrust acting on a bigger radi...

Hi Ganesh, fuel is propane and i will post a pic of the fueling.
My motors are bent into a “u”. Do you need a straight or can you do the bent version?

Re: Valveless pulsejet-computational fluid dynamics
Hi Zono and Ganesh, I'd like very much to know if this motor's intake and exhaust alternate. I'm about to put it to a turbine and in or out of phase is important. Any interest in running this geometry? I'm imagining test rigs to find out, but thought you guys would enjoy the idea. pocket jet, 3.5 lb...

Ah yessss, pushbutton starting works! 8AFD2B88-BCD7-4CE0-84AF-98E36625D9DB.jpeg I’ll get a youtube up of the successful result. I ran out of fittings, so decided to try a direct line to the starting stinger, and adjusting the needle valve going to the main feed. The next iteration needs ability to s...

Re: Subsonic Ramjet Design Project
Wouldn’t hurt to put an X rib on any big areas. You will wish you’d spent just a bit more on 304 or 321. I llok at some of my prototypes and wish I’d let go of mild steel much earlier. I’ve given the rectangular architecture a lot of thought and modeling, but no gas dynamic, stress or fatigue work, ...
