Re: regenerative ramjet engine

I can tell you that I have worked extensively with this kind of design and while what is pictured will "run" if configured as a pressurejet, it will not run as configured as a gas burning self sustaining jet. Unless by running you mean having cold air come in and hot air come out, which is a jet wit...

Re: Basic Diffuser Design Assistance

What you are looking for are the one-dimensional gas flow equations. While they are algebraic, it can still be a bear to get out what you need once you couple in a inlet diffuser to exhaust nozzle and add in combustion. I've been working on it for a while.

Re: 130R movie for Pulse-Jets.com

Thanks for posting. I am working on what is closer to a ram jet, but I don't see why all these valveless designs shouldn't have a pressurejet component.

Re: Regenerative Ramjet

Larry do you think that this design could be self substaining for static thrust operation because like the patent description i like the idea of using dynamic pressure flow of the combustion chamber exit pipe to supercharge the intake part of it as long has the exhaust gaz to intake charge ratio di...

Re: Regenerative Ramjet

Yes, that's the one I was talking about a few years ago on the old forums. Not the first cyclical flow jet design, but probably the simplest ever patented! Thanks, nano, for giving everyone a chance to see this! My Cyclodyne design came long after this, of course, but I had not seen this at the tim...

Re: re: A question about homemade ramjets

I have a question about throttling: How is Throttling done in a ramjet engine? You can throttle either by adding fuel or increasing airflow (if you start above the stoichiometric ration), that is the runaway nature of ramjets in operation. As long as you keep the flame lit through whatever combinat...

Re: re: Proposed: Simple Cyclical Flow Engine

Why spin the metal in a turbine when you can spin the air? Bruno, this is what I have been working on for ages. I do get a heat engine that produces flame out the back end, but little thrust. The problem is that your induction compressor stage adds too much heat to the intake stream, thereby knocki...

Re: re: A question about homemade ramjets

Isn't it really a very revolutionary design? A ramjet sustaining without any air being flowed into the engine? Actually, I've been working on this design for the last 15 years. Or at least what I think is a more practical version of it. Cottril has a version, and so did the foul Russian whose name ...

Re: re: ultimate long distance plane!

a boxy wing plane wouldnt be as efficient in its lift/drag ration though. Not necessarily true, what I am pointing out is different than your usual concept of the biplane, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it. Besides, after you've achieved your 60 foot wingspan, how floppy are those wings going ...

re: ultimate long distance plane!

The problem with lightweight planes is getting tossed around a lot. One of the things I've considered is building a high aspect ratio biplane, where you close the box ends. You end up with a shorter wing. I think solar cells put ouy so little that they are a real stretch. Maybe some kind of hybrid.

Ha, thats funny, I stummbled apon this just today. Not to say there isnt some interesting info in there. Rossco Well, you throw oxidiser and fuel into a combustion chamber at the end of a long barrel, and how could you not have fun? Especially when you get a real detonation in a thin wall chamber t...

Re: A guy claming to have built a PDE...

http://www.phoenixnavigation.com/ptbc/articles/ptbc64a.htm This guy says that he has developed a cheap and simple PDE, it looks a bit like a thermojet without intakes. Should be interesting to read more about the engine and see some video of it running since I find it very hard to believe that it i...

everyone though the valves would have to travel too far but didnt seem to pick up on the fact that if they were made V shaped the internal resistance and travel distance is greatly reduced. Eric I think the real problem would be the mass and strength of the rigid flapper (you couldn't really call i...

I have been doing a lot of water injection over the past year or so, I have mentioned a few times the advantages of injecting water but only a few people even showed remote interest in doing it on their own, and other than my own comments I cant really remember much else on water injection. Eric We...
